This Pro Co Sound Stereo 1/4" Male to 2 XLR (1 Male, 1 Female) Y-Cable is an insert patch cable that allows a mixing console to send/return signals to an outboard effect processor. The cable is wired as follows: ring on the TRS to pin 2 on the female XLR and tip on the TRS to pin 2 on the male XLR. Pins 1 and 3 are bridged on the XLRs. These are rarely used today, only when the processor uses unbalanced XLR I/Os.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's wired backwards Trying to use this with a compressor, took to gig and could not make it work. Studied the connections at home on several boards but was unable to make it work. When i ran the bypass on the device, it worked. Was able to loop them back to itself and the completed the connection and the sound went thru the channel. Broke out the board manuals and discovered that the tip and ring are hot on the wrong ends. Looked up the item on B&H and found that they are not defective just not the standard. That explains why they are so much cheaper than anywhere else. Was able to test by changing the gender and swapping the plugs into the compressor. Cable seems to be a great quality cable, just learned my lesson about not reading the full description. Too excited about the great price I guess. B&H was very speedy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wiring is not standard Saw another rating on here about how these cable are wired backwards....read the description and ordered them anyway! Other guy that rated these was absolutely correct, cables have male XLR where female should be and vice versa (send XLR is actually return and return XLR is actually send....I should have closely compared the wiring I needed while reading the product description!). Luckily from seeing the other review I knew what to check right away....instead of swapping/soldering the male/female XLR ends I swapped around leads soldered to TRS plug end. Once I did that the cables worked like a champ! I think I would recommend to a friend because of the low price, but with explaining the caveat the you must rewire them correctly for them to work....a tossup between spending time hassling with soldering versus getting the more expensive cables that are wired correctly!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work I received one that didn't function at all. Shipping it for a return or shipping it under warranty costs as much as buying a new cable. I'll take it as a $ loss and just never buy from this brand again.
