    Pelican 1700 reviews

1700 Long Case with Foam (Black) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Case After buying my rifle and very expensive optics. I decided that I needed something a little better than the foam padded case I was using. So after eye-balling this case for awhile I decided to buy one. Very well made case...three layers of foam(1 on lid and 2 on bottom), nice latches and a soft o-ring seal around entire lid. There are two things Im not too crazy about and that's, the top handle does not fold down like the side handle and I would have liked one more latch on either side like the Storm case but from what I've read the 1700 seems to be stronger. Not a big deal as I will definitely buy another Pelican.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good case for tripods Looked at several cases intended for single tripods, but this one, which cost less and holds more than one, seems best. It also has wheels and, like other Pelican cases, is very sturdy. It easily holds a 1300 series Gitzo, smaller & shorter tripod and a monopod, all with heads still attached. There is still room for a few small parts if needed. My purpose is to check it through on flights, leave the case and any tripod not needed at the moment in the hotel room and just take the one I need with me. Loaded it weighs about 32lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for tripods and light stands I only shoot strobes and needed something light and durable to carry my portable gear in. I already had a pelican for my body, lenses and strobes but needed something for the big stuff. Tried a couple other bags and boxes and. Wasn't happy. I took measurements of what I needed to carry and went to Pelican's website that has a fantastic fitment guide. Next, I started shoppefor price and B&H was the obvious choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing Better I have not used the (now Pelican made) Storm cases yet, but I have used several other types of rigid cases. Pelican products are the best I have seen. The fit and finish is second to none, they are extremely durable, and if you ever need to get new foam it is readily available. I really can't say enough positive about these cases. As for the 1700, it is the perfect size for an M4 style rifle with optics mounted. It has all the space you need and not too much extra. I have two desiccant packs, a grip-pod, and four magazines (plus one in the mag well) all in the case. The foam is very easy to cut with a hot knife, jig saw fitted with a soft material blade, or an electric carving knife. And B&H Photo has the best prices on them as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great case! Bought this case for an AR-15 and some accessories. The size is perfect, inside & out. Fits under my bed. The case is well-made, seems very tough (I was standing on it @ 180 lbs and it didn't give too much). Has rollers so you can pull it instead of carrying it. I got the full foam insert that I had to cut out myself. If I had to do it again, I would spend the extra $$ for pre-cut foam. (A brand new exacto scalpel worked best... but, like I said, I'd spend $100 before I did that again.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great case but.... The case is great as you can expect from Pelican products. I really like that the lid stays open at a certain angle which is good when you set the case on a bench or table that is not big enough. Unfortunately it cannot hold a nameplate on it which is why I bought it to begin with. I called Pelican customer service before ordering the case and they swore to me that I will be able to put a custom nameplate on it. So back it went to B&H, sorry B&H, not your fault but Pelican's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbreakable - maybe not I would love to write a raving review but I had to return it because it arrived with the chunk broken off the end courtesy of UPS. I have other 1750 cases and they have survived the airline baggage handling monkeys many times. If you have a firearm you like these are the cases to use for travel. I'd rather arrive with a damaged case then a broken firearm on a $5,000. hunt or major competion shoot. You can't beat Pelican guaranteed for life, they stand behind their product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect case for rugged use This is the second such case that I have purchased. I pack trade show materials inside and it works great. I can ship it with truckline freight or check it on a plane due to its size. Its seriously rugged construction protects the contents very well. Many cases have cheap components like handles, wheels, clasps, etc. but everyting here is top notch. I've been shipping and lugging the first one around the country for nearly a year now with almost no sign of wear.
