Nikon DK-21 reviews

DK-21 Rubber Eyecup is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 242.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design Flaw of the D750 I shoot with the Nikon D750 camera. I was on a shoot and half way through it I noticed that my original rubber eyecup was missing. I ordered three more replacement ones just in case. Well I was on another shoot and again I lost another rubber eyecup. I feel like this is a design flaw of all the cameras that accommodate this eyecup. I give it three stars because it is not IF this eyecup needs to be replaced, but WHEN it needs to be replaced. So it will be lost at some point. I am sure it does a great job at blocking light from entering the viewfinder but it won't stay in place. Maybe Nikon should include several rubber eyecups with the camera at the time of purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Original Replacement for Nikon D750 Eyecup This is the original replacement for Nikon D750 eyecups made by Nikon. It is designed to slip on the viewfinder eyepiece and is held there by friction. I apparently knocked off the one that came with the camera and lost it on a wildlife shoot somewhere in the woods. When I checked B&H online for replacement, I was very pleased to see the low price. This is the first time I've ever seen a price for a Nikon replacement part that was actually less than the competitor off-brand replacement. I was so happy that I bought two of them -- just in case I lose another one! It works as it is supposed to; it keeps out stray light, and is soft rubber that is easy on your eyebrow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for more than you may know. This is a great eye cup in as it fits my N80 also. I originally purchased this as a replacement for my D200, in case I lost it. Then I thought if the same right angle finder fits the N80 and D200 then why not this eye cup. Well let me say that I wished this eye cup would have come with my N80, because it is a lot easier to use than the original. It slides on and off where the original fit over. I had lost two of the other types, after removing and reinstalling them to use the eye piece cap. I either bumped them off or didn't reinstall them properly. Now I don't have to worry about it anymore! Great Fit!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Yes, there is a design flaw. I've owned my D750 for about year, and I have lost three of these. It seems secure when you mount it, but when the back of your camera brushes against your waist for a few hours, and you have50 other things on your mind, you will find it's been lost. I agree with those who say it's a design flaw. Absolutely, it is. A rubber eyecup that better blocks light, like some of those made by Hoodman (but so far not for this model Nikon) would also be a welcome accessory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this again. And, probably will have to. Grr! I bought two of these eyecups because I lost the one that came with the D750. I'm glad I bought two because Iost one because of Nikon's poor design. They fall off way too easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great After misplacing my original eyecup for my Nikon D600, I purchased the DK-21, which is exactly the same as what came with my camera. Nice quality, reasonable price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Frail, but necessary As an original spare part, it is hard to top by other brands. Good: The rubber leaves less smudge on your eyeglasses than other products. Also good: rubber is very soft. Bad: Construction is very frail, the part comes easily off the camera body while stowing. Holding clip eventually broke and rendered the whole thing useless. Tip: Keep some spares since they are not always available. I used a bigger eyecup of another maker with a bigger mold for a while but returned to this one because it's easier when you wear glasses.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works poorly on a Nikon D750 I ordered this when my original eyecup disappeared. Now this one frequently disappears when I pull the camera out of the bag, though usually if I look inside the bag or on the ground around I can find it. But it's very annoying. Given the positive reviews, I'm inclined to believe the problem is with the D750 rather than the eyecup. But a large number of D750 owners (though not everyone) has reported this problem. If you have that problem, then buy several of these to have some spares, or look for an alternate eyecup.
