Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Overview

Producing an expansive 180° angle of view, the Nikon F-mount 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens from Sigma offers a super-wide perspective for creative applications. As a diagonal fisheye, this lens produces a notably distorted image that fills the entire frame, and its minimum focusing distance of 5.9" allows for working with unique perspectives with close-up subjects. Additionally, the bright f/2.8 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult and low-light conditions by allowing the use of faster shutter speeds.

Diagonal fisheye lens is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, however can also be used with DX models where it provides a 22.5mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/2.8 maximum aperture facilitates working in difficult lighting conditions.
Expansive 180° angle of view pairs with the fisheye design to render imagery with distorted, curved lines. As a diagonal fisheye, the image fills the entire rectangular frame.
Multi-layer coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color when working in strong lighting conditions.
Minimum focusing distance of 5.9" benefits working with close-up subjects and allows for producing highly exaggerated perspectives.
This lens does not feature a built-in focusing motor and does not support autofocus operation when used with the Nikon D40, D40x, D60, D3000-series, or D5000-series cameras.

Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Reviews

Good trade-off between quality and weight

I have a heavy 15mm Irix wide and wanted a lightweight option. This fit the bill. The quality is still good enough although there is quite a bit of purple fringing at the borders which is correctable in Lightroom

Absolutely my second lens!

I bought this from a tip on David Busch’s Canon EOS 6D Mark II Guide book. Depending on how you angle a shot you can make weird, artistic or even a normal image. It’s a back-up lens to my Canon 24-70 mm 2.8 EF L II USM.

Great lens with nice fisheye effects. Auto focus is quick. Colors a little lacking in low light, but overall, happy with the lens.

Depending on how you angle a frame you can make weird, artistic or even a very normal image. (My kayaks on a lake shoot) My Sigma fisheye lens goes with my Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8 L II USM wherever I take my camera.

question

Will the Auto focus work with a D5200?
Asked by: Anonymous
The AF motor in this Sigma lens requires the camera to have its own AF motor to drive the lens (such as the Nikon D90/D7000 series cameras and above). The D5200 does not have the built-in motor, so it would not drive the motor in the Sigma 15mm lens.

The Specs say that this lens has filter threads on the rear, but they don't say what diameter those threads are. Does anyone know?
Asked by: David
There are no threads for front or rear filter attachment. Instead there is a filter holder on the back of the lens. This holder accommodates gelatin style filters ( Wratten filters for example ) Using the filter holder as a template, you would then cut the filter into the right size and shape to slide into the holder. Here's an example of a Wratten: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/503623-REG/Kodak_1964741_3_x_3_Neutral.html

I recommend the Sigma 10-20mm The fisheye lens will distort the image and I wouldn't recommend that one. http://bhpho.to/1kez5dP
