On-Stage SB96+ overview

  • 1Description

The On-Stage SB96+ is a microphone stand suitable for use in studio applications. It sports four folding legs that lock in place, though when they don't, they sit upon casters, so you can easily roll the stand around your studio as need be. The main shaft of the stand extends from 45 to 76", giving you plenty of height—and that's without the telescoping boom, which can range between 43 and 79".

This boom utilizes a solid steel counterweight, as well as a 40-teeth clutch that fights against slippage. At the end of this boom sits—you guessed it—another boom, this one giving you 7" of range. This mini-boom has a Posi-lok clutch, and as such, adjusts handily to any microphone position. When you need to take the stand with you, it'll fold down, making it easily transportable.

    On-Stage SB96+ reviews

SB96+ Studio Boom with 7" Extension and Casters is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just What I Needed These stands work perfectly for my small studio. They are capable of getting the mics well overhead of my drums, and have the reach necessary to place the mics where I need them. They are smaller than some of the other studio booms, which is a big plus for my situation, as I simply don't have the room for the larger stands. The geared clutch adjustments have been able to hold even my heavy ribbon mics without a problem. I should have bought these years ago. After struggling with smaller stands being unable to hold their position, or reach the heights I need, these stands do it without any problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sub-par in several respects Whereas most mic equipment, booms, stands, extensions, and supports are multifaceted enough to accept several (brands of) holders and adapters - in order to be useful once you purchase them - this particular unit IS NOT one of those items. No references are made as to screw/bolt size of the armature (not standard) or the 7 extension, nor is there any sort of adapter available with the stand - or as an additional component to purchase - to accept different sized attachments. Useless if you wish to use your equipment. Additionally, poor design and/or workmanship does not allow for each of the (4) wheeled leg extensions to reach the floor all at the same time...so the unit rocks. What's more, the wheels are at such a cockeyed angle (visable in the photo - sort of) that they do not roll efficiently - and a couple don't even roll at all in concert with the two which do! They don't swivel or turn as needed, so they scrape along the floor as you move it!I will say it is heavy duty, and had the design been better, the heft and solid build would have been a huge plus.Perhaps the lack of available information should have been my clue that this expensive piece of useless equipment,...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better deal than they are advertising!!! My choice was this or a 240$ boom from .... Same boom. Does what it says and i was pleased with the product. Very strong and easy to adjust. Works great on my green screen set up. It did not come with a thin 5/8 wrench for attaching the wheels. But you can get them on hand tight very easily. i would put a little WD40 on the threads to prevent rust. Great deal!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could use a better base I am using this stand for some high overheads on a drum kit. The reach of the stand is great. Very flexible. I would have to agree with other reviews that the base of this stand is rather poorly designed. I don't plan to use these in a constant tear down & setup situation, so they'll work for my purpose. Probably wouldn't recommend them for studio use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great maneuverability Pros: Great maneuverability. Cons: A challenge to assemble, especially the legs and wheels part - company should make a how-to video with a link included in the accompanying box papers. A bit expensive.
