    Pelican 1400 reviews

1400 Case with Foam (Desert Tan) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 190.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A safe for my camera gear Pelican cases enjoy a well-deserved reputation for being waterproof and indestructible. I have two, an 1150 for my digicam and a 1400 for my digital SLR. The 1400 holds the camera body (Canon 5D or 40D), a 28-135mm zoom lens, a 70-300mm zoom lens, extra batteries and charger, flash cards, and the user's manual. The pick 'n' pluck cushioning system enabled me to custom-fit both cases to their contents, even allowing me to put a piece or two back when I made a mistake. Now, after years of missing out on great photo ops, I can go on wilderness canoeing trips and bring back professional quality photos without worrying about bad weather, capsizes, or other mishaps. Truly a fantastic product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A-mazing I bought this for my Rebel T1i and two main lenses. The case fits the T1i (w/50mm 1.4 and hood reversed) as well as a 70-200mm 4.0 and hood, with some space around the top of the 50 for filters and some other smaller things. The foam is easy enough to cut out, the toothpick tracing idea was pretty helpful. Now, onto the fun: I tested it in a bathtub, first with paper to see if any water came in, then with all my gear. Not only does it stay dry, the loaded case floats quite high. I haven't yet taken it swimming (I will soon enough) but I was caught in a 50-60mph storm the other day and didn't for a second worry about my gear. As an added bonus, the orange is going to be easy to find in low light, and it looks badace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value This is a FANTASTIC product. I use it to carry my Canon T2i along with some other accessories. It had been through a lot and lives up to it's name as well. It's completely watertight, I've thrown it off 50' cliffs into lakes, dragged it behind me while swimming in rivers, and taken it into caves numerous times. You can be sure that whatever you store inside will be completely safe and undamaged when ready to use. It has enough space inside to completely secure my T2i along with another lens and another small accessory. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this product, I have minimal complaints or cons to report about it, mainly the fact that I wish it could fit into a backpack because it is tiring to carry around after a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute Wonderful Overkill when i decided that my Nikon needed to come camping, rock climbing and hunting my military experience told me to get a Pelican Case. they are the go to for weapons, electronics and optics. it is absolutely indestructible. i can think of no situation where this case would be a concern (i would worry about my personal safety first). if fit my Nikon D40 with the 18-55 attached, a 55-200 lens standing vertically some filters, the battery charger and cable, and the manual laying in the bottom of the case. the downside is pretty obvious, it is heavy and inflexible. some might call it ugly, but i think the design looks good solely out of its clear function over form. it will give you a lot of hassle with the security guys at the airport since so many people recognize it as a weapon case. i am perfectly pleased. it is an uncompromising product that will get it done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Case This is a great case for a good price. It feels very solid. The latches lock the case tight but are quite loud upon use. The handle is actually quite comfy to the touch. You can pick out the rectangles of foam to create a tight fit around your stuff. I used a knife to get it started then plucked the rest by hand carefully. I easily fit a FX DSLR w/ Battery Grip attached and 2 lenses in the case. I love the piece of mind that my goodies are waterproof! I got the bright orange color, so its easily seen on travels. I only wish it came with a backup foam so i could swap out the foam set for a new configuration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent case I ordered this case a few months ago and it never failed on me since. It's tough, durable, easy to use and protects my gear as I would expect it to. I've picked one of my two foam sets (the other one is extra) to contain a Hasselblad 500c/m (w. a back and an 80mm lens attached), two extra backs (one such slot can be used for a lens hood and/or filter set), a spotmeter and a flash (580EX II in hand). I also managed to fit in a cable release and a sync cord, although at this point it gets pretty packed. Probably you could tolerate thinner foam separators (I use at least two blocks). The case withstands underwater tests with ease, it also floats easily with the mentioned gear inside (the claimed buoyancy seems correct). I took it to the White sea and it was brilliant. It took some scratches from rock climbing and a lot of saltwater showers, no probs at all. One thing to mention, the case (obviously) can not compensate for sudden temperature drops, so if you take you gear inside after a long winter walk, it will get misted. But that's just physics, isn't it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORKS GREAT FOR 7 MONITOR I bought this 1400 Case with Foam (Black) by Pelican to carry and protect my Delvcam 7 monitor and accessories. It holds the monitor, the A/C adaptor, the camera-top mount, 3 batteries (1 on the monitor) and the HDMI cable. As you can see from the photo, it could hold more accessories if it had to. I was concerned that I might have trouble with the foam inserts and not be able to customize the case the way I wanted, but the cut cube design of the foam made it easy. I just used a kitchen knife and was careful to lay out everything ahead of time, so I had no mistakes. I also love the fact that Pelican has the metal protectors on the lock rings which are perfect for TSA approved locks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GoPro Friendly I originally tried the Pelican 1200 case to house my GoPro camera plus accessories with no luck. The 1400 was my solution with some room to grow! I have bought Pelican cases in the past and will continue to do so in the future as they are a well made USA product made to house our important products!
