Behringer 1002 Overview

  • 1Description

The Behringer XENYX 1002 is a mixer that offers clear and natural sound in a small and portable format. With ten inputs, two high-quality XENYX mic preamps, and a 60mm logarithmic-taper master fader, this versatile mixer is ideal for a wide variety of mixing and recording applications, from small-stage gigs to home-studios, mid-size corporate events, and more.

The XENYX 1002 is quick to set up and operate with all connections and controls easily reachable on the top of the unit. The first two input channels feature XENYX mic preamps on two XLR connectors, as well as two 1/4" inputs for line-level signals. Switchable, onboard 48V phantom power allows you to plug in both dynamic and studio-grade condenser microphones. A gain knob lets you adjust the input level and a clip LED alerts you if you are overdriving the input. British-style 3-band EQs provide warm and musical tone corrections for your vocals and instruments.

The four sets of stereo inputs each feature +4/-10 switches used to match the mixer's input sensitivity with the incoming signal. This helps avoid signal degradation when connecting stereo keyboards or playback devices to the mixer. Pan (balance) and level controls are included for all inputs. Each channel is equipped with a post-fader FX send, which you can use to send signal to an external processor of your choice.

The 2-Track section provides an easy way to connect an external 2-track recorder and/or playback device. The 2-Track inputs are assignable to either the main mix or to the control room/phones outputs. The main mix fader controls the signal at both the main outs and 2-Track outputs, while a dedicated knob adjusts the volume for the phone/control room outputs.

    Behringer 1002 Reviews

XENYX 1002 10-Channel Audio Mixer is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Sound I've been leary of Behringer but have slowly become more comfortable with some of their products. This mixer has 2 mic pre-amps and several other inputs. I use it in my business, running mics for wedding video and even live sound. It has performed dependably and the FX on the 1002FX are pretty good. I'm satisfied with it and would recommend it as a good small format mixer. I've found no noise nor hum when using it. The only con is that it does not have an on/off switch. Just plug and unplug it. But then again, I don't leave anything plugged in that has a power converter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job If you are working with clean audio signals that don't require much handling then the specs on this mixer hold up. If starting with a noisy signal then I have found that more expensive Mackie mixers do a better job. We use these Behringer mixers to monitor audio from various sources and overall they do a pretty good job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great For Computer Workstation Compact mixer that gets the job done. Have used other Begringer products in the past and never have had issues with them. Fantastic for the price compared to other options. Same size as the 802, but more inputs (with stereo pairs). Makes it a perfect option for use with multiple audio source input on a computer workstation. Lack of power switch (like other Behringer options) could turn some people off, but easy fix to use with a power surge protector and turn that off instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Audio Mixer The Xenyx 1002 Mixer was the perfect choice for use in recording a chamber music performance with just two microphones. The mixer is very low noise and yielded a high quality recording.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Price Performer Purchased primarily for its 'Tape In to Control Room' monitoring function to use with an Olympus LS-10. Exceptional recordings using professional mics with or w/o phantom can be verified and compared Live in the field. Its compact & lightweight form factor also comes in handy when you need to add a few inputs, control a sub-mix or create a mix/minus on short notice. A small piece of masking or console tape will subdue the Power LED.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT VALUE, IDEAL BACKUP BOARD We are using the xenyx 1002 in a backup studio which also serves as a production room. Does 90 percent of the things our big board does, with sound quality more than adequate for rock FM radio.
