    Behringer AMP800 reviews

AMP800 - MINIAMP Compact 4-Channel Headphone Amplifier is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from excellent product for the money This product is aimed at the professional audio market, thus only balanced or unbalanced 1/4 inch jacks can be used. I bought some 1/4 to RCA jacks and it works just fine, although balanced would be ideal my source isn't balance, so it doesn't matter in my case.Compared to the an amplifier I owned costing literally 10 times more than the AMP800, the AMP800 performs very well.As expected from a product costing 10 times less than the my other amp, the AMP800 does not have the same level of detail, or tight bass response, or as wide an aural sound stage in critical listening. But in terms of noise characteristics I was pleasantly surprised with very low noise present. The volume knobs offer a smooth transition between sound volume, and unlike the VHP-2 sounds equally good at low volume as at high....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Behringer Headphone Amp Gets The Job Don This product is used in a project studio for recording/listen back purposes. I'm using it to monitor live recordings and then monitor tracks for overdubs. I/O is adequate, I am able to hook this up to my recording interface without issue. Sound quality is clean, powerful. My only gripe, the case is pretty flimsy...would not inspire confidence if it fell from the desk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from decent amp for the price. When I needed five headphone amps for a show that's entirely played back through headphones, the Behringer was certainly the right choice at 40 bucks a pop. There wasn't anything cheaper available, and it turned out they were easy to use and sounded good. Just know that you'll need a Y cable if you have a stereo input like a portable cd player or mp3 player. The input jacks on this are NOT stereo, regardless of what it looks like. When running a TRS stereo plug into the left in, I got some very nice radio interference that was solved by the Y cable. So other than that, they worked just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent value for a musician This product is a great value for a musician that needs to monitor with headphones, which is what it's designed for. For that purpose, it works well, and it's hard to believe that they can build something as elaborate as this for the price. I used it for to amplify the output of a TV for headphones. For this, it needs a couple of adapters, to convert a 1/8 stereo input to two 1/4 mono inputs. I also needed to adapt a 1/4 headphone output to 1/8 to be compatible with my headphones. Once I had the right adapters, it worked very well, but it wasn't as simple as just plugging it in. It's more than what I needed, but the price was so fair that it didn't matter. I would still recommend it highly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Performance I use this product for the musicians in our worship team. Two people connect to one channel and share a mix. We use 2 of these units for 5 people. I also use the titan earbuds. The unit has a great sound to it. It is used through the monitor aux in the sound system. I have to turn down the gain on the equalizer so as to not overdrive the miniamp. With the right adjustments, this miniamp delivers superior sound, and great performance.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not built to last It looks pretty, but after a few yanks on the cables or falls from the desk, this thing quickly wears out. If you're using it at home in a safe environment, you can probably scrape by with it, but for any type of situation where it might take some abuse, I would not recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommended I use this amplifier to do two things, really. It acts as both a volume controller and an output selector for my computer's audio. I purchased this AMP800 to compliment my new Sony MDR-XB500 headphones, and it does a great job of it (they sound awesome). It lets me seamlessly route my music to either my headphones or my desktop speakers and lets me do so without having to adjust the volume control in Windows. The volume/balance control knobs are very smooth and don't give any crackle or static when adjusting. It's got output ports for each channel on both the front and rear of the unit which makes it really convenient to hook up cables where it's easiest to access them (my headphones are connected to the front and my speakers are connected to the rear). The built-in amplifiers are capable of powering all 8 ports (4 independent amplifiers with 2 ports each) simultaneously, if I ever felt the need to hook that many headphones/devices to it. Easily accessible source input volume/balance controls, independent source selector switches, and individual output volume controls with LED level meters made this an easy choice for me. The build quality seems to be pretty decent for the price, and the sound quality is really good. The unit is light weight, so if you need portability, this should be easy to transport. My only gripe is that it requires an adapter for what I use it for; The inputs are individual 1/4 mono plugs, so I had to buy a Y-cable (3.5mm stereo to dual 1/4 mono). B&H has one, and it was relatively inexpensive, so not a real problem. Also keep in mind that all the outputs on the AMP800 are 1/4, so if your headphones have 3.5mm plugs, you'll need adapters (I already had a few, so again, not a problem for me). Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Brainer 2 discrete stereo or mono mixes with 4 individual outputs for $.....that's right, a good deal.
