Yamaha YST-SW216 overview

  • 1Description

Ideal for generating the tight, visceral bass that is so vital to the home theater experience, the Yamaha YST-SW216 10-inch, Performance Series, Powered Subwoofer will complement any system configuration. In conjunction with smaller, bookshelf-type speakers, it extends the system capability for true full-range frequency response.

With large, floor-standing speakers, the subwoofer helps shoulder the burden of reproducing low-frequency information. Port-tuned and slot loaded, it utilizes a 10" long-throw woofer and powerful 100W amplifier for room shaking reproduction, crushing power and quick, tight bass. Standard features include high and low cut filters and an input level control.

    Yamaha YST-SW216 reviews

    YST-SW216 10" 100W Front-Firing Subwoofer is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice addition to my system I purchased this subwoofer to complete a home cinema system that I had pieced together over time. It fits in perfectly and complements the Mission speakers I otherwise have. The Missions have great bass reproduction for their size (for a little over 4 inches' worth of a woofer) and never really felt I would need to expand the bass. But I saw the Yamaha and figured I'd give it a try. It definitely rounds up the spectrum nicely. It was very easy to set up and install, and even though I purchased it for home cinema, I now enjoy all my jazz records so much more with the added low frequencies. And at this price point, this is a no-brainer. The only drawback, maybe, would be the size as it is a bit large, but for a subwoofer, this is nothing unusual.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Subwoofer for the price I use this with a turntable stereo system to listen to records. My set up is: - Technics SL-1200 M3D Turntable - Yamaha R-S500 Natural Sound Amp - JBL N26II Bookshelf Speakers Sound quality is the sub is great! Very musical. I love how is not overpowering and has very adjustable settings. Seems to be very well made. My only complaint is that the on/off switch is in the back which is a pain in my opinion, but then again my Dynaudio BM9SII Sub (Expensive) Also has the power switch in the back. Other than that, this sub is a great value and sounds fantastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good match for a Yamaha sound bar I bought this to match a Yamaha sound bar for my new Samsung 50 inch. The soundbar has built in subs but they cannot get the bass that I want. I added this subwoofer and I am amazed that I can get so much sound without using an amplifier. It is bigger than I thought but space is not an issue, especially when I don't have five speakers to scatter around the room. This subwoofer would work equally well in a large room with an amp. Great sound for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid subwoofer for the money I ordered this sub after my Polk sub died after 7 years of use. I was looking for a sub that was reasonably priced but with a solid reputation and good ratings. As soon as it was delivered, I hooked it up and watched the Avengers. Great movie for this sub and really has a nice thump to it. Only wish list for this sub would be an auto-turn on feature like the Polk (remains in stand by when not using) and I wish the bass was more pronounced at lower volumes. Seems like the best way to really get this thing thumping is when you turn volume up all (or most of) the way. For just over $, I think this is really worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! This is exactly what I needed. For $129 this thing sounds great. If you're thinking about getting a sub woofer consider this Yamaha.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it. Love it so far, deep, clear bass, will shake the windows if you want it to, but also has great sound at lower volume. Solid unit, feels well put-together. Just arrived a few days ago. Couldn't find anything locally, I discovered this place and decided to give it a try. Shipping was cheap and easy, A+, I'm in BC, Canada, got the prepay import package from B&H when ordering, there were no issues with extra fees or anything, it got here pretty quickly too. The only feature I feel it is missing is a standby mode where it can be powered on or off by the receiver/amplifier, so you wouldn't need to manually turn the power on or off. But at the price one can hardly complain about that...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant! I was a bit worried that the lack of crossover frequency control on this unit was going to be problematic, but it was not an issue at all. If you have a receiver that tunes your system to the room, you will be very happy. I'm not a fan of big boom in a room. I like hearing the entire frequency spectrum reproduced faithfully. This subwoofer is perfect! Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sub for the money I have this unit paired with PSB image B4 subcompact speakers and with the volume set, you'd think I was running a set of floor speakers. I wish the sub had feet to remove the vibrations from the floor, and a standby switch, but overall I am very satisfied with the setup.
