Motorola DTR-410 overview

  • 1Description

The Motorola DTR410 Digital On-Site Two-Way Radio represents a better way for small businesses to communicate, resulting in greater employee and business productivity. It offers a digital one-to-many Public Group Call, greater coverage than any previous two-way radio—up to 300,000 square feet or 25 floors, and digital audio quality—and loud, clear audio everywhere you have coverage.

The DTR410 digital on-site radio will hold up under demanding conditions. U.S. Military 810 C, D, E, and F Standards are used in the design process to simulate the very harshest environments, including blowing dust or rain, salt, fog, vibration, shock, and adverse temperature storage. This digital radio is license-free.

    Motorola DTR-410 reviews

    DTR410 Digital On-Site Two-Way Radio is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Radio We have a 100,000 sq ft auto dealership and this radio is perfect for us. The digital signal is clear and strong, both inside and out. The edges of our property are almost a 1/4 mile and the radios work well past that. The text functions are a nice added feature and I was able to customize the radios easily with the programming cable (separate). The only downside is a slight delay before speaking as the radio signals connect, but that is a small price to pay to have a great radio, great signal and no FCC license requirement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear & Rugged bought 10 so far I have a used furniture store that is 10,000 sq' two buildings that are block apart three floors each. 10 workers that all need to communicate. These radios work perfect so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from these are so underrated There aren't many choices when it comes to license-free radio, let alone digital license free. So there's all the FRS/GMRS (and GMRS is technically not license free) 35-mile walkies which are mostly junk, and so common you have absolutely no privacy. MURS is more promising, but your choices are limited. (If Dakota Alert handsets were more rugged, they'd be a good choice) Then you have all the super-cheap Baofeng/etc handsets which could be programmed to only use FRS/GMRS/MURS frequencies, but that's not technically a legal use of those frequencies, and those handsets are not exactly family-friendly. ...and none of the above choices are even digital! The only other license free digital option I was able to find is icom's IP100H-based system, which uses WiFi. Sounds great in theory, but it's a centralized solution and the hub is not cheap. Basically that leaves Motorola DTR. Yes it'd be nice if Motorola was more committed to the series...other than introducing the DLR versions, they haven't really paid much attention to this protocol. But bottom line is they just work. They're a little large, but that's to be expected with a walkie handset that's easy to hold on to and use PTT. They seem to keep selling, so hopefully we will continue to be able to buy new ones. PROS: - digital - easily 1+ mile range - all day battery - very rugged - license free - fairly private (not state-secret private, but good enough) CONS: - aging product line - no AA battery option - no way to enter custom text messages except with discontinued keyboard or programming cable - audio encoding artifacts with high-pitched voices (e.g. children)
