Since these binoculars are essentially two scopes mounted in tandem, it is recommended that they be mounted on a tripod. To help facilitate this, they come with a built-in tripod mount and center stabilizer rod. To help reduce the overall weight, the chassis is made of lightweight polycarbonate. An added advantage of this material is that it is more resistant to expansion and contraction with temperature changes than aluminum, which can cause the optics to shift out of collimation over time.

Konus Giant 20x80 Reviews

Konus Does Not Dissapoint

Read a great thorough review of the Konus Giant 20x80 on Cloudy Nights astronomy web site. Agree with the positive assessment. Clear, and reasonably bright images of terrestrial and celestial use. Viewed the passing comet this July with impressive clarity at this price point. I have a Konus 4 inch compact telescope from some years back and it surprised me as well with the image quality at a budget price point. I recommend these 20x80 Giants. Buikt in tripod mount works well. Case design is cumbersome to use, but effective for protecting.

I bought these for long distance , they work great in low light , you need a good stable tripod . I. have a Konus konspot 80 but these have a wide field of view . best uses are night viewing stars ,moon etc. I also use it at the rifle range . for close viewing I use Nikon 10x42 Monarch 7 Binocular. Note they are not waterproof . Optical quality is excellent.
