It certainly works to keep paper safe and light tight, my only problem is that it is a bit expensive. But there aren't many choices out there and the price is typical for photographic equipment.

What are the external dimensions of the safe? I ...

What are the external dimensions of the safe? I need to understand if the long side will fit into 18 invh wide shelf. Thanks.

It does appear the external dimensions of the base of the Doran Paper Safe for Film and Paper 12 x 16" will be approximately 13" x 18" and should fit on an 18-inch wide shelf.
