Anton Bauer EgripZ reviews

EgripZ Handheld Camcorder Support is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall good, but trouble fitting it. I was pretty mad when I first tried using this on my Canon T2i. The screw is really short, and there is a plastic button that pops out on the stabilizer next to the screw that prevents it from being connected to my SLR. I went as far as going to ..., buying washers, hex nut, and srews to extend the screw on the stabilizer and connect it into my T2i. Thought it was going to work perfectly, but that little plastic peice still got in the way. I was about to give it up and sell the thing, but I ended up investigating the plastic button, and it has absolutely no purpose (except to ruin lives.) So I ended up having my boyfriend shave the little peice of plastic off. And voila! It now works like magic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Anton Bauer Should be Proud! This has got to be the simplest and coolest more useful tool I have ever purchased. When I fist saw it on this site, I quickly dismissed it. But after reading the reviews .... well all these people couldn't be wrong so I ordered it and I'm glad I did. It is so easy to use and actually works! I mean seriously. I do leave my tripod quick plate mounted underneath this thing for easy on and off the tripod. I love how it bends easily but is still firm. It's just every so versatile. I was pretty amazed at how absolutely stable my handheld shots are just from having one side of this thing pressed against my forearm. It also made my camera seem so much lighter to handle and less cumbersome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Simple and SO USEFUL!!! Have done A LOT of research to find a product to help with holding and steadying my Sony HVR-Z5U. This simple and well constructed tool has in it everything that is needed to assure support and balance which equate into smoother shots and no fatigue in the arm/shoulder/hand. Hooking it up to a monopod broadens the scope of the usefulness of the monopod. This is a great solution for a price that is WAY less than what most other steadying/support tools cost. THANK YOU!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good, very cheap I picked up an EgripZ after eying a Manfroto FigRig for the better part of a month, but was unwilling to shell out the $700 bucks for the wheel and the attachments. After reading the reviews for the EgripZ on this site, I figured it was cheap enough to buy and try out.I am so glad I did. I cannot believe how simple and amazingly helpful the device is. The handles have a perfect feel and grip to them and can be adjusted quickly (though it sounds like you are snapping a handful of twigs when you do). I have also found I can force them into several positions to shoot from the ground or a ledge dead even.I wish the had a quick release, as the rig and my Canon XH-A1 are impossible to store when put together, but seeing as you can screw it off in a few seconds by using the edge of a quarter, I can't complain too much.I am still eying the FigRig, but it would have to be amazingly good to match this value for cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can't beat it You may be looking at the picture wondering how this is a good stabilization device but it really works and it's so cheap. You combine this with FCP filter steady cam and you can get moving shots as smooth as the Shining. They won't be as clear, but as smooth. Put one hand holding from the top of the cam and one hand on the extended hand of the egripz to get the smoothest motion shots. Having to carry a quarter around to put this thing on doesn't bother me at all the minute you put it on and feel the difference. You can even put this on a tripod

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Investment This is an excellent investment if you purchase a prosumer camcorder. It is very stable and it makes your camera so that you have another place to put your other hand while you are holding the camera. The only downside to it is that you need a coin to unscrew it off the camera or screw it on the camera but overall it is a great investment for a wedding videographer or anyone who shoots handheld.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is just great! I first saw EgripZ at NAB 2006 and tried it, I had to have one. I looked at many stabilzers but with most of those, unless you had the body harness your arms still got tired. When I tried the EgripZ and bent one side toward my wrist, I felt instant relief from fatigue. For me and my uses, this item was a blessing. I highly recomment it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Always in my kitbag I have a Glidecam rig and it's almost useless: Too long to setup, nearly impossible to balance, expensive and when (if?)it finally works, the stabilization is minimal at best. (with a Canon XH A1). The only plus is that it gives you a 'Hollywood' look. It might impress the crowd. So stay away from it The Anton Bauer EgripZ on the other hand is simple to setup, inexpensive and very effective. It's always in my kitbag and used with a monopod it can even replace a tripod if need be. So do get the EgripZ.
