I really like this lens. Use it with a nex 3n and now with a a7II (at 15mm it fills the sensor)

wide-angle lens

Couldn't be happier! I was looking at wide angle lenses and got stuck between 2 sony lenses (one of which was a carl zeiss. Im too lazy to look them up :P). So I went to my dealer who only had this lens in the wide- angle section, and i'm glad i chose it. It had a discount so i can't argue over the price. Quality is pretty good, with almost no noticable barrel distortion from what i've seen, and I also haven't seen any chromatic abberation or what so ever yet. I highly recommend this lens to anyone who needs some extra stuff from up close or just for daily use.

Great Lens for Many Uses

I use this lens a lot, mostly for real estate/home interior shots. I purchased it specifically to get some great shots of a home theater that we submitted for an award, and have used it in nearly every home installation that we have done since. It has great color, and you never run out space to fit an entire room into a shot. I have dabbled a bit with portraits with this lens as well, and landscapes are great, but you have to be careful of the distortion that can occur with the wide angle.

this is a gift to my friend

I bought this lens to use with my Sony NEX-FS100, and it delivered great DOF and color. This lens has a great angle of view with no noticeable distortion. I highly recommend this lens to anyone who needs to get close to their subjects.

Using with sony nex vg 10

It's necessary to shoot at my music studio, which is has a limited area. When attached to Sony Nex VG 10, it has limitations in low ligth compared to original lens (18mm-200mm). Anyway, it still works to my necessities. Remember: there is no autofocus with this lens attached to sony nex vg 10, so it'll take some time to be sure that focus is ok, considering the small lcd preview.

Noisy, not good for video.

I bought this lens brand new with 2 years warranty for 250euros. Everywhere else I looked it costed at least triple the money, my guess is that they were trying to get rid of a-mount lenses such as this one. To the lens now. The lens is mainly made out of metal and plastic parts, the mount is full metal as well. You can clearly feel the difference in quality to the 18-55 SAMII. One huge downside is the noise of the auto-focus, it literally sounds like a drill and that makes it bad for videos. On the upside the focus ring moves independently which means that you wont need to twist filters like CPL every time you focus.  At the end, its a great lens for 250e and it comes with a hood too but I would prefer to change camera body than to spend 750 or more for this one. Cheers.

Wonderful Lens!

I use this mostly for photography indoors. It creates a great wide angle scene with minimal distortion.

question

Will this fit a Nex-6 camera?
Asked by: Anonymous
The two are not directly compatible, as the Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera uses the Sony E-mount, and the Sony 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 DT Wide Angle Zoom Lens uses the Sony A-mount to attach to the camera. As such, you would need either the Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter (Black), B&H # SOLAEA3 (requires you to focus manually), or the Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black), B&H # SOLAEA4 (provides autofocus) to use the Sony 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 DT Wide Angle Zoom Lens on the Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera.

question

Will it work on A99 FF body? What would I stand to lose if I used it on A99?
Asked by: Anonymous
While this lens will fit on a Sony A99 body, it will vignette, as it is designed for APS-C format DSLRs. I suggest the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 ZA SSM Vario-Sonnar T* Lens: http://bhpho.to/1bcm9xj

question

can I use this on my sony a7 and my NEX 7
Asked by: Anonymous
To use this lens on the A7 and NEX 7, you would need the following lens adapter: http://bhpho.to/1bKe4G1. Please keep in mind, when using this lens on the A7 which is full frame, the image area would be cropped.
