The Cinelux Lighting Filter, #382 Congo Blue (20 x 24" Sheet) from Rosco is part of a series of filters created for motion picture and television productions where large lighting fixtures are employed to create effects. This filter is produced using a specialized technology that insures the longest possible life under hot theatrical lights. The filter is general mounted within a frame and placed in front of a light source to create the desired effect. The three discrete layers from which they are made are combined by a tri-extrusion process. By sealing the colored layer between two microscopically thin layers of clear film, dye migration is minimized and effective life is extended.

question
How is this different than the LEE Filters CL181 Cool LED Congo Blue Gel Filter (21 x 24 ) ?
In comparison using swatches of each brand, the color is virtually the same. The difference is in terms of how the filters are produced. The Rosco Cinelux filters use a deep dye color process, where embedded dyes are melted together with a plastic base. The Lee Lighting Filters work off of the Cinemoid standard used in the earlier days of gel production. This involves a painted on color onto the plastic. Rosco does offer their E-Colour series which works on the same principle and filter code of the Lee filters. That would be the Rosco E-Colour #181 Congo Blue (21x24 Sheet) B&H # ROE181S, which is sold in quantities of 5 at this time. Please see the image below for reference.
