    RPS Lighting RS-RT04/C3 reviews

RS-RT04/C3 Wireless RF Remote Release is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this product I have been searching for a wireless remote for my Canon 30D, I cames across this product and read the reviews so I went up to B&H today and picked it up. Works right out of the box no problem. Just kind in mind your going to need a couple of AAA batt's when you buy it but for the price its great!!I gave it 5 stars because it works right out of the box with no issues, I started shooting self shots with it right away. And it has an on & off switch, I worked with a bulb setting with no issues, the instructions are simple and easy. I am also getting ready to buy the Canon 7D with this supports as well..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I had hoped i haven't had tons of experience with it yet but grabbed it straight out of the box and used it immediately for about 3 hours straight without a hitch. granted, the longest distance was about 8 feet away but it works like a charm. feels a little fragile so i took some gaffers tape and tapped a few napkins around the bottom half of the remote to pad it a bit in case i dropped it (which did happen a few times) and that seemed to help protect it some and also kept me from accidentally switching channels. seemed to work fine whether the antenna was up or down. i feel way more comfortable with this than with the cord.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Initially after plugging it into my 20d, it wouldn't fire the camera. The lights worked on both the transmitter and receiver, but nothing moved on my camera. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it works perfectly. Half press to focus and full press to fire the shutter. Not five stars because is cheaply made and the battery cover doesn't stay on very well. Take good care of it if you want it to last.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dot Line Remote Release for Canon 5D I have had nothing but problems with this unit. I has worked but usually doesn't. I have missed many shots trying to use it at a distance of not more than 20'. It's very over priced for what you get. Save yourself a lot of time and frustration and spend the money to get a Pocket Wizard. Expertise: Professional Wedding Photographer

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It does what I want it to do, so far When I tried the Dot-Line remote out of the box, the transmitter failed to make connection with the receiver. They both have 4 dip switches that allow for 16 unique channel settings. I emailed Dot-Line's customer service who answered promptly and suggested changing to a different switch setting. Then it worked as expected. That's sort of a good news-bad news story. I use it on a 5D on which I have optioned auto-focusing to the * button on the back by setting custom function 04 to 1. I had previously autofocused and so depressing the remote button half way did not present the problem of refocusing. In this mode the remote worked well and had lots of range. How it would work with more complicated settings I don't know but it's only a modest investment anyhow.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poorly designed product for the price I purchased one for use with wildlife shots but although the transmitter and receiver talked to each other, the camera operation was totally unreliable. Took it back for a refund after 10 frustrating days. I should have known when I saw how poor the battery connections were on the transmitter. Save you money ! Expertise: Semi professional Problems Encountered: Never knew if it would fire or not. Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Long remote cable

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great RF remote I bought this to do primarily two things: Capture birds at a bird feeder, and self-portraits. I'll probably come up with some other uses later! ;-) What's great: It works. Every time. I saw that another reviewer said they had trouble with the transmitter button, but I haven't had any problems with mine. The transmitter button works exactly like the shutter button on my Canon 40D: Press partway for focus/metering, press all the way to snap. The light on both the transmitter turn green on half-press, red on full-press. The two components are small and lightweight. I keep them in an old P&S drawstring sack in my bag, and aren't bothersome to haul around. Not so great, two things (I subtracted 1 star for this): 1. For the price, the build quality is okay to good, except that the transmitter's antenna (a telescoping aerial) seems a little flimsy, and rattles when extended. It would probably bend or break if you hit it against anything. At the range I have used it so far, about 20-30 feet (6-10 meters) through a glass door and windows that had metallic tinting, it was quite reliable with the antenna in the collapsed position. Haven't tried it yet at longer distances. 2. Not really a reliability issue, but the DIP switches look very 1980's tech. They are very reliable, though. I suppose the settings could be accidently changed in rough handling, but this hasn't been an issue for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Works great, good range. It can focus as well as tripping shutter release. Many uses: wildlife, group shots that you want to be part of, time exposures, shooting in remote locations. I use it with the Canon 40D.
