Microboards QD-DVD-125 overview

  • 1Description

The QD-DVD-125 24x/48x Standalone 1:5 DVD/CD Duplicator from Microboards is a DVD and CD duplicator that supports standalone operation. A USB 2.0 port is present on the unit, but only communicates with one of the device's DVD burners. The duplicator is perfect for any user requiring easy copying of audio, video or data DVDs or CDs. PrassiTech Zulu 2 disc mastering software is included.

No hard drive is required, since the duplication process is on an as-you-go basis. However, you do have the option of installing an optional 500GB drive for disc image storage. The LCD screen provides the user with the status of the recording process, minimizing the number of faulty discs. With user-friendly, one-button operation and a sleek design, this duplicator is perfect for any environment.

Standalone Operation
The tower can act as a standalone burner. Simply insert the CD you wish to copy from in the top drive and burn up to 5 copies simultaneously with the press of a button.
USB 2.0 Connection
The tower also includes a USB 2.0 port for computer control. You'll only be able to burn to a single drive via this method. This allows you to create the master disc from a computer source and then duplicate from the master via standalone operation.
24x DVD, 48x CD Speed
The burners record DVD-R discs at 24x speed and CD-R discs at 48x speed. This lets you burn a set of discs in a matter of minutes. This is great for anyone who has a large quantity of discs to duplicate.
500GB Hard Drive Option
You have the option of installing a 500GB hard drive into the unit. This drive can be used to store frequently-used disc images.

    Microboards QD-DVD-125 reviews

    QD-DVD-125 24x/48x Standalone 1:5 DVD/CD Duplicator is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! This is the first duplicator that I used and it worked flawlessly. The only thing I'd recommend is using the discs that the Microboards recommends, Taiyo Yuden. I used Verbatim CD-Rs and while I didn't get bad burns, the duplicator didn't like them when I used the test and copy feature. I was able to try them in the burner again and was able to get a successful burn.I was skeptical about getting a DVD/CD burner burner because I couldn't find many reviews about them. Since I've used B&H for years I felt confident buying this duplicator. Also, while this tower has five DVD drives in it there is room for two more. This provides excellent upgrading potential.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy it again. I bought this unit to copy 100-200 DVD+R discs per year to send to friends who share my hobby. The menu system on the unit was a bit cumbersome to navigate but with the instruction manual in one hand I was able to begin copying discs 15 minutes after taking it out of the box. I appreciate the standalone operation. I can burn a master disc on my computer then insert that disc into the duplicator. It would be great if it had a friendlier user interface. I plan to attach a pocket to the side of the unit for the instruction manual to reside in since, due to the frequency of use, I will have to consult it every time I use it. Other than that I am quite happy with the unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works most of the time I had to duplicate 85 DVDs for a play I video taped.. I was tickeled that this duplicator would do 5 copies in 8.5 minutes compared to 11 minutes for my PC with an external DVD drive. I completed all the DVDs only to find most would lock up during playback. I had to do most over again. I tied to duplicate using TDK DVDs from my locate supplier and found they would come out bad every time. I purchased another batch and had no problem. The DVDs tush wouldn't work would work on the PC. So, I'm baffeled. I ran a pretest on the master DVD to make sure it wasn't coming from that. So, everything was goodin that respect. I haven't contacted their support since it's working now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have gotten one sooner Being a small post-production facility, I was asked to produce only 3 to 4 copies of a production. This was ok untill I started to get request for large quantities of 30-40 copies. The thought of having to burn one at a time was not an option, hence I purchased the duplicator. The unit is everything I expected. It was simple to setup and use. I produced 30 copies of a 45 min. production in under 30 minutes - and that was copy and compare mode, and no failures. The only issue I have with the duplcator is with the User's Manual. It can be a little difficult to understand in some places. I was confused about something, so I called tech support, and to my relief they were very informative and took the time to explain it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great! Excellent tech support too. It had one drive that was not connected, but a quick call to the friendly tech support number solved that. I just had to open the case and reconnect the wires that had jiggled loose. The duplicator works just as promised. For our needs (a church duplicating sermon audio CD's) the hard drive was unneeded. So this was the perfect unit to buy. It is upgradeable - we can add 2 more drives to the enclosure if we want to. I summarized the CD duplicating steps and taped it to the top of the enclosure so our volunteer team will be able to easily make copies. The only downsides are: the big physical size/weight, the loud fans (which probably do a great job of cooling), and the clunky menu.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great box... worth the money Well made machine that has room for expansion. It comes with five recording drives but has two more slots for adding on. I use the machine to duplicate DVD's for clients. It is so easy to use and is very fast at making dubs. I love the stand alone feature because my computer is very busy with video editing. We live in a complicated world and this machine makes my world much simpler with easy controls and elementary operation. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use. Works great. We use the duplicator to copy DVDs of high school football games. We sell them to the parents as a fund raiser. The unit is easy to use and works great. The coaches use it to make game copies for visiting college coaches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from User friendly, professional results I needed to make several hundred duplicates fast; took it out of the box and with a quick glance at the manual plugged it in, inserted the master CD, and was off and running. I was only going to try it out that evening and do the job the next day, but it was so fast and easy that I ended up completing the task that evening. No foul-ups, no coasters. Have done several other jobs since, and am amazed at the ease, and the quality of the output.
