sE Electronics RF PRO Overview

The chrome sE Electronics RF PRO Reflexion Filter PRO is a portable reflection filter designed to mitigate the acoustic conditions prevalent in home studios. Traditionally, acoustical treatments have been expensive propositions, requiring extensive testing and construction on various surfaces. With the advent of project and small satellite studios, innovative techniques have surfaced to deal with the economics and practicality of treating those acoustic situations.

The Reflexion Filter PRO aims to address this issue by providing a curved baffle with a patented multilayer design; the filter is positioned behind any microphone by means of a variable-position stand/clamp assembly. This reduces the amount of acoustic energy hitting any untreated walls, in addition to which, less of the original source is reflected back to the microphone as unwanted room ambience.

Popular Worldwide
Since sE Electronics invented the Reflexion Filter in 2006, over 120,000 units have made their way into studios and homes worldwide, and it remains an industry-standard for portable effective acoustic treatment.
How It Works
When you put a microphone in front of you, it doesn't just hear you, it also hears the room around you. Even if it's a cardioid mic, it's still picking up some reflections from your voice or instrument that are bouncing off the walls and coming back to the mic. The goal of acoustic treatment is to minimize the pickup of such reflections so your primary sound source comes through as pure as possible.
Specialized Construction
Some materials are good at absorbing or reflecting particular frequencies; for example, foam absorbs highs quite well, but does nothing for lows. sE's patented multi-layer technology works evenly across the whole frequency spectrum to ensure a balanced, even sound with no coloration at all.
Made by Hand
Just like sE microphones, each Reflexion Filter is handmade in the sE factory.
Ultrastable Hardware
In 2016, sE Electronics completely redesigned the RF Pro's mounting hardware to increase stability, simplify ease of use, and provide an updated level of performance, durability, and aesthetics.

It allows panning and tilting for maximum flexibility, and all moving parts are chromatized to ensure low wear. The extra stability means that your RF Pro can be positioned solidly at any angle to help provide a dry sound when recording any source—vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, amplifiers, drums, room mics, strings, and countless other instruments. The RF PRO can be securely attached to virtually any mic stand via its clamping mechanism.

question

Can this be used with a Rode ProCaster? With my existing boom or should I invest in a separate mic stand?
Asked by: Anonymous
The sE Electronics Reflexion Filter PRO is a rather heavy product. We recommend the use of a heavy duty stand such as the Auray RFMS-580 for stability.

question

Does this have the current hardware mounting upgrade from the 2016 anniversary model?

question

Thanks to all for the reviews. Several owners mention the weight of the unit and how it needs to be paired with a heavy/sturdy tripod to keep from toppling. Any reco's on a specific tripod that would work? B&H links the Auray RFMS-580 tripod with this filter. Anybody happen to be using that stand? Sturdy enough? Does it work? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

John if it is not too late, I would recommend a c-stand, like the ones impact make, very solid, especially with a sandbag for good measure.
