Lumicon LF1115 overview

  • 1Description

The Lumicon 1.25" Variable Polarizing Filter is the all-phase lunar filter for large telescopes. Transmittance is continuously variable from 5-35%.

Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

The 1.25" filters employ industry-standard 1.125" x 42 tpi threads (except for Questar/Brandon, which use a thread pattern unique to Questar). The 48 mm filters employ industry-standard 48 x 0.75 mm threading, which thread into 2" eyepieces. All larger filters use the given size with 0.75 mm pitch (e.g. a 72 mm Minus Violet filter has 72 x 0.75 mm threads).

Note: Fits 1.25" eyepieces

Lumicon Polarizing Filters are made from renowned Schott-Hoya optical glass and allow for maximum contrast of lunar detail
Individually precision ground, highly polished with maximum light transmission coatings on both sides, these filters are 100% guaranteed for life

    Lumicon LF1115 reviews

Variable Polarizer 1.25" Filter is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Variable Polarizer 1.25 Filter by Lumicon I have use variable polarizer filters from another astro related company. There were quality issues with both. The Lumicon variable polarizer filter is perfect in visual function as well as mechanical. The two parts of the filter move smooth and there is no play between the parts. Visually the transmission is very even across the entire FOV and does not degrade image details. I am very pleased with this filter and the price is well worth it for this level of quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not fit my optics I'll give this product two stars because It did look like it was mechanically well constructed, the movement was smooth, and it appeared it could easily last the rigors of use. The unfortunate truth for me, however, is that this particular filter would not screw into any 1.25 eyepiece or any 1.25 accessory I had. After puzzling about this, I checked the thread pitch (seemed correct) and then the diameter- it was about 20-thousands too large for the standard 1.25 filter thread. So, I sent it back as a manufacturing defect. Probably not something that would occur very often (one would hope), but I'm not chancing it and selected a different manufacturer. Your results may indeed differ, but unfortunately I can't recommend based on my experience.
