A Super Spectra coating has also been applied to limit flare and ghosting and promote greater contrast and color accuracy in a variety of lighting conditions. Complementing the imaging attributes, a ring-type USM is employed to deliver quick and quiet autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus control.

Another Go-To Lens
Added this lens to my top three Canon lens's. I have a wide variety of Canon lens's, some of which rarely see the light of day. This one is different, with the wide depth of field and the f/1.2, it's amazingly sharp! And very rugged as I learned when it rolled out the back of my truck on day two of using it and hit the concrete. Solidly built. still works like a charm!!

A Perfect Portrait Lens
This is hands down just a wonderful lens! My two favorite primes to use for portraits are 50 and 85mm, and this is without a doubt the best 50mm I have ever used. Being f/1.2 you can achieve absolutely insane Bokeh if that is your thing. The images are crisp to the edges. If you are searching for your first pro level portrait lens this or the EF 85mm f/1.4 is usm would be a great choice. Between the two I find this handier and a little more versatile.
Worth Every Penny
Highly recommended! The focal distance of 50mm is very versatile so can be used for portrait and also can be used for some urban photography. This lens delivers a monster bokeh. I cannot praise it enough, I have RF glass (non-L) that cannot compete with this one.
100% worth the upgrade
I used a 1.4 for years and really questioned if the upgrade was really worth it. Well, after purchasing this lens, I am 100% happy with my purchase. The upgrade in quality is night and day. Beautiful bokeh!
