Clearly distinguished by its bright maximum aperture, the Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM is a normal-length L-series prime also sporting a robust physical design and advanced optical layout. The impressively fast f/1.2 maximum aperture affords a great degree of control over depth of field for isolating subjects and producing desirable selective focus effects. Complementing these qualities is a sophisticated optical composition, which includes one aspherical element to suppress spherical aberrations in order to achieve notable sharpness and clarity. A Super Spectra coating has also been applied to limit flare and ghosting and promote greater contrast and color accuracy in a variety of lighting conditions. Complementing the imaging attributes, a ring-type USM is employed to deliver quick and quiet autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus control.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM Reviews
Love This Lens!
I couldn't be happier with this lens...so much bokeh! I absolutely love it.
Stunning Lens
Beautiful lens. Love it!!!
Great lens, not amazing.
This is a really nice lens, but I have some reservations about the quality control. This was my second lens straight out of the box (sent the first one back) and there are some very tiny dust particles in the lens. I didn't want to send a second version back so decided to keep it figuring it is what it is but for $1,400 it shouldn't be that way. I realize these are mass-produced but it just feels like Canon isn't trying as hard. Maybe they're focusing more on the R series. Aside from out-of-the-box quality... the chromatic aberrations are a little more pronounced than I feel like they should be for a top-tier lens. I'll likely keep my 85mm 1.2 as my primary mid/tele lens of choice as the 85 just seems a hair sharper and of higher quality.
Love it!
Such an amazing lens
Amazing lens, but....
I had this lens a few years back and decided to sell it. As time went on, I decided that I wanted it back so I recently purchased it again. I love this lens. It's an all-purpose lens with AMAZING bokeh for portraits. The only negative I would say about the lens is that is heavy. It's a high quality lens but heavy compared to other lenses.
Reminder
I've been waiting for this lens, B&H contacted me when it came in, I ordered it and now it's out of stock again but who know how long! Glad they contacted me
A Perfect Portrait Lens
This is hands down just a wonderful lens! My two favorite primes to use for portraits are 50 and 85mm, and this is without a doubt the best 50mm I have ever used. Being f/1.2 you can achieve absolutely insane Bokeh if that is your thing. The images are crisp to the edges. If you are searching for your first pro level portrait lens this or the EF 85mm f/1.4 is usm would be a great choice. Between the two I find this handier and a little more versatile.
A King Among Kings
This 50mm f1.2 resides among the Gods of photography. The bokeh is insane and this piece of glass has little to no optical distortion. It is everything I expected and much more! Solid L construction and performance.
