  • 1Description

The Sony Cybershot DSC-M2 digital camera combines the best of both worlds while it's sleek hi-tech vertical design is both impressive to look at and comfortable to hold, and great quality photography is guaranteed, thanks to the 5.1 effective Megapixel Super HAD CCD and the Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar folded-path 3x Optical Zoom lens. You can shoot, share, and save your memories by recording high-resolution 5.1 megapixel still images, high-quality MPEGMovie4TV clips, or simultaneous still images and video clips in Hybrid Recording Mode. The Pocket Album function lets you store up to 1,100 VGA images for sharing anytime.

With a press of a button, the camera can switch between photo and movie modes depending upon which will best capture the mood. Unique to Sony, the Cyber-shot M2 features the Pocket Album and Slide Show plus Movie functions for effortless and fun playback on the generously sized 2.5 inch Hybrid LCD screen. Moreover the large screen allows you to frame the shot in any light conditions, including direct sunlight. The camera uses Sony's Real Imaging Processor, which enables it to capture pictures quickly so you'll never miss the moment.

The ergonomically designed one-handed grip sits neatly in the palm of your hand, and the slightly tilted lens axis allows you to hold and shoot with a natural wrist position. The control layout has been designed with ease of operation in mind. For example, the Photo and Movie buttons are arranged in a horizontal line, within easy reach of your thumb. The shuttle control feature on the back of the device allows you to easily scan forwards and backwards through your movie footage and photography to reach the scene or image you really want to view.

One Camera for Photos and Movies
The DSC-M2 gives you two great ways to capture the moment: shoot digital still photos, or capture MPEGMovie4TV video clips with high resolution and compact file size
Vertical Hi-Tech Design
The aluminum body of the DSC-M2 has a special finish to create a luxurious and classic satin metallic look and feel. Equally impressive on vacation, at an evening party or a family barbecue, the Cyber-shot M2 always exudes style. It's bold and hi-tech, with one-hand operation that's sure to attract admiring attention. A gentle push flips up the large 2.5" LCD screen and simultaneously turns the power on, for fast shooting and convenient Slide Show and Pocket Album viewing - even movie playback.
5.1 Megapixel Super HAD CCD
More megapixels mean more detail and high-resolution definition. Sony's advanced Super HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD is designed to allow more light to pass to each pixel, increase sensitivity and reduce noise.
Carl Zeiss 3X Optical Zoom Lens
The Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar 3x Optical zoom helps the DSC-M2 bring distant subjects closer and lets you frame shots for better composition. Furthermore, Sony's precision 2x Digital zoom provides additional magnification to zoom on your subject without jagged-edge distortion.
Brighter Image, Reduced Noise
Improved circuitry means improved image brightness when shooting in low-light situations, while faster processing speed helps reduce "block noise" that can cause distortion in solid-color picture areas.
MPEGMovie4TV Mode
By capturing full-screen (640x480) high frame rate (up to 30fps) video with stereo sound in MPEG4 format, DSC-M2 video clips have 50% more horizontal resolution and take up 1/4 the file size. This allows more clips to be stored and longer continuous recording.
Hybrid Recording Mode
Release the shutter to take your still photo, and automatically save 5 seconds of video and audio before the shot, 3 seconds after - an automatic combination of still photo and moving video that's great for fleeting moments.
Stereo Sound
The Cyber-shot M2 features a stereo microphone, a first for a Sony digital camera, and great for playback on a stereo TV. The built-in mono speaker incorporates an ALC (Auto Level Control) circuit, this combined with the Class D amplifier, allows surprisingly loud sound playback without distortion and also ensures low power consumption.
Memory Stick Duo Media
The DSC-M2 has a built-in slot for optional Memory Stick Duo media that provides ultra-compact, high-capacity shooting and recording.
InfoLithium Rechargeable Battery
A supplied InfoLithium rechargeable battery gives you plenty of shooting power in the field, recharges quickly and easily with no "memory effect," and shows how much shooting time remains.
Tilt/Swivel Free Angle 2.5" LCD Screen
An extra-large 2.5" LCD screen flips out for shooting, rotates so you can put yourself into the picture (or movie), and folds back flat against the camera body for sharing stills and videos with family and friends.
Pocket Album Function
With its high-capacity internal memory, the DSC-M2 lets you store and view up to 1,100 photo images at VGA resolution. It's like carrying a photo album with you, for viewing and sharing anytime - and you can manage your photo album in-camera. Stored photos are saved as thumbnail images sorted by date and year; a simple shuttle key at the side of the camera lens allows smooth browsing and quick search.
Cyber-shot Station Cradle
The supplied UC-MB Cyber-shot Station cradle provides USB connector for PC hookup, TV connector for viewing images on large screens; stereo A/V and USB cables are also supplied.
Slide Show with Music Playback
The DSC-M2 lets you view in-camera images in Slide Show sequence, with one button operation, selectable transition effects and up to four music background tracks that make it more entertaining to share your memories with family and friends. You can even use supplied Picture Package Music Transfer software to add your own favorite music.
Supplied Software for Viewing and Burning
New Picture Package software lets you play back DSC-M2 photos and movies on your PC, create original video clips with music, and back up DSC-M2 photos to CD; new Nero Vision Express 3 software lets you edit DSC-M2 movies and burn your own DVDs.
Direct Print Capable
The Cyber-shot M2 features PictBridge, the standard for printing directly to photo printers, such as the Sony DPP-FP50. The supplied Cyber-shot Station makes charging and connecting to a PC, printer or TV even simpler
