    CAD Trion 8000 reviews

Trion 8000 Multi-Pattern Condenser Tube Microphone is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from warm and consistent for the price, this mic is perfect for recording warm, high quality vocals. though the mic is on the fragile side, i wouldn't let that deter you. be careful with handling it and you'll be happy...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Articulate with a warm tube nuance... Wow.. This thing really impressed me ! The benefit of a crowded market is my advantage.. A bang for the buck product and it kills the competition. Next mic for me is the new E100... lowest noise floor in the world... perfect compliment to my 8000

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 20 years of CAD I have 3 of these along with a VX2 and VSM1 in my small project studio and I will say without a doubt the Trion 8000 is so worth the money. Put a good tube in it like a Tung Sol Gold and you will have an outstanding mic for vocals, acoustic instruments, overheads and so much more. I am lucky to have a job where i am exposed to the pro audio market daily and have seen so many mics and this is one of my faves at any price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too much noise, unstable As music studio owner, I do like to try different mics, and sometimes a piece of gear would stir my interest. You don't need the most expensive gear to get good sound, but I would advise good quality gear. I bought this mic after hearing some good reviews on it, which stirred my curiosity. After I connected the mic the first thing that I noticed was that the mic let off a constant static even after being on a while. I tried wiggling the mic xlr 6 pin connector. It quieted down to a slight static and occasional pop and crackle emitted from the tube . This I was convinced would only be a temporary fix, which was proved right. The static came back and I had to wiggle the cable jack again and again. Don't even think about moving the mic or else back to the static. Definitely not a quiet moments mic unless you plan to use a noise reduction plugin. The mic looks nice but the build quality definitely needs to be improved. Now onto the sound, after a while trying to get this mic to shut up, the sound that this mic put out can be explained as a rich, full bodied beautiful sound. I threw it up against a $ big brand mic and it held its own, it even impressed others in the studio. To me the Cad had a surprisingly big presence which I preferred. But all the other mics in my locker are dead quiet besides this. I felt that CAD could have put more attention to the build quality, which probably would increase the price, but would have been well worth it. The sound this mic produces is beautiful, but its just to unstable. I would gladly pay more if CAD would make a quiet stable pro version of this mic. Maybe I just got a lemon, and now it produces a constant loud static that the cable wiggle can't fix and I just can't use it. If you can get one without these problems you would have a big bodied beautiful sounding vocal mic. Pair it up with a good mic pre and it would impress. I would give it Five Stars for the sound especially considering the price. But the inner build quality of the mic needs more attention, and because of this the two stars. CAD, some humble advice, build a quiet pro version of this mic and you would have a sure winner!
