Panasonic DMW-RSL1 overview

  • 1Description

The Panasonic DMW-RSL1 Remote Shutter Release makes it easier to use the camera when placed on a tripod or copy stand. With this remote, there is no need to actually touch the camera when releasing the shutter thereby minimizing any camera shake, and users can work more comfortably and produce sharper telephoto and macro images. The long cable (1.5m) means that the user can step away from the camera when shooting, or place the camera in awkward positions where using the on-camera release is difficult.

    Panasonic DMW-RSL1 reviews

DMW-RSL1 Remote Shutter Release is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 71.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly, while knock-offs do not After reading so many reviews about this product...too pricey....buy a cheaper off brand, etc., I decided to purchase the recommended shutter release to go with my new Lumix G3. I have used this cable on a daily basis for the past three weeks and it works PERFECTLY! The design is easy, the cord is long, and I have confidence that it will work every time. The lock mechanism is solid and easy to engage and disengage after even a long open shutter timed photo. I know that it wasn't cheap and I did debate buying a knock off, however, I am now happy that I just bit the bullet and bought what I truly thought would work the best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must-have for time exposures If you take time exposures, you need this and a tripod to take steady shots without touching the camera. The trigger button is just like the camera's shutter release, even allowing you to engage the auto focus. Press once to release the shutter, press again to close the shutter. The result will be a perfectly still shot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good quality, reliable product I am using the remote shutter release to maintain burst mode when taking a series of pictures of a subject, as the camera moves fairly rapidly along a track. Trying to move the camera manually while keeping the shutter button depressed was just too cumbersome. I also liked the ability to lock the shutter down during long exposures. These days, to acquire a quality product, one expects to have to pay for the quality, and so it is with the DMW-RSL1. It is not cheap, but B&H is still able to offer this original Panasonic accessory at only slightly more than half the price that competitors ask, and, unlike other sources that I checked, B&H always has it in stock.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DMW-RSL1 Remote Shutter Release Ridiculously, horrendously overpriced. However In general, I've found that it is worth the extra money to buy Panasonic branded batteries and certain accessories for the reliability/compatability factor alone. This release was no exception since it was purchased to replace a less expensive, but unreliable, non-Panny remote release. This works like you'd expect it to: halfway down for focus, all the way down to shoot, and lock-down for flash and burst shots. The cable is only 5 feet long - an extra foot or so would make an enormous difference in usability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as expected DMW-RSL1 works satisfactorily with DMC-FZ300 camera... depress the button halfway (as you would do with your camera's shutter button) to have camera autofocus. Depress the button fully to activate the shutter (or start video recording). Depress button fully again to stop video recording. The remote's cord is five feet long. The one function I wish it also had would be the ability to operate the zoom, but it only operates shutter and autofocus. It's expensive for what it is, but it does work properly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Panasonic Release Perfect... I splurged for the factory Panasonic release for my G-3, because it had the L shaped plug, and it was well worth the price. The cord hugged the body and was out of the way, I can only imagine how dangerous to damage the after-market plugs would be, sticking up in the air, perpendicular to the body. The button control seemed a little long to push, but you can make no mistake pushing it halfway down, and then following through...better to be a little long than too short!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works as advertised I use this on tripods for long exposure work, or on a monopod as a finger extender when I'm shooting action from angles where it is impossible to reach/touch the camera. For the latter especially it is invaluable to have this item. Not much else to say really as the product itself is simplicity defined: You plug one end in the camera, the other you use to fire the shutter. The cable-length is right (quite long) and it is well constructed. My only complaint about this is the price. At least here at B&H it seems to be a healthy discount to Panasonic's list price, which is nearly 80 bucks.
