    Leica 14872 reviews

M8 Ever-Ready Camera Case (Black) is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent protection, worth the price Maybe my own case is not exactly this one - on mine it is necessary to remove the camera from the case in order to remove the baseplate (I guess the description here is not right). After I broke the LCD glass on my M8 inside the camera bag, I bought this case with my M9 and find it really useful - and cheaper than a replacement LCD glass! On the 'plus' side, I can use and close the case when using _any_ of my lenses, including: -CV 12mm, old version, with the 77mm filter holder plus a filter and a cap (the holder is really bulky!) -CV 1.9/28 with original shade and cap -CV 1.5/50 old version with original shade and cap -CV 2.5/75 old version with original shade and cap -Elmar-C 4/90 My guess is the Elmarit 2.8/90 and even the new CV Nokton 1.1/50 would also fit, but this is to be checked. Thus, reality is better than Leica's own statements saying it holds lenses up to 60mm! One drawback though: the case doesn't clear the USB plug, and has to be removed before transferring images to the computer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for me I tried to use this but could not find a comfortable way...seems like this case is just to carry and not to have on all the time. If it's just a carry case then it's too expensive for me. Had to return it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dysfunctional Mess First off, it's worth prefacing all of this by saying I'm amazed that this product carries the LEICA name.I purchased this case to use on an M Monochrom. I was drawn to the fact that it was a) made by Leica, b) an actual full case (most manufacturers making cases for M bodies only make half cases that do not cover the top of the camera and lens for storage), and c) was very reasonably priced next to those other third party cases. This made it a no-brainer purchase for protecting my camera. That said, nothing but disappointment set in when I received the case. While the quality of the leather is OK (it's soft, supple, and rich - although definitely nothing high end), the case's real weak point is its completely dysfunctional design. Let me say no one would buy this thing if anyone showed photos of it other than that front side profile. That's because the front/top cover of the case is attached (sewn) to the back flap cover that protects the LCD - and this piece is held in place by a large, cheap feeling screw that threads into the tripod plate of the camera. When the front piece is removed, the screw does not properly hold the half (body covering) portion of the case in place - it becomes loose from the body and flops around - and this large screw protrudes about a half centimeter or more out the bottom of the camera. What makes this worse is that then in order to use the case with the front flap still attached, you have to forcibly hold it down below the lens and pray that it wont show up in your shots (good luck with a wide lens). As I said above, the front of the case is sewn to the back, so it can not be removed while shooting. Concerning the back of the case - the rear flap covers the whole top of the back of the camera. It does not stop at the eyepiece (actually the rivets for closing it are right where the eyepiece is on an M). So to make matters more complicated, you have to hold the front AND back of the case down while shooting - something that may have been possible if the M was an autofocus camera, but because of its manual nature this is just insane to presume someone could operate the camera and use this case at the same time. This product was obviously not very well thought out, and it's embarrassing that it carries the LEICA name. TL;DR - the case is poorly designed and will do nothing but get in your way while shooting. Save your money. Finally, thank god B&H has a quick, easy return policy! Thanks B&H!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from M8 Eveready Case by Leica Excellent craftsmanship and material. Typical Leica product, extremely well made, perfect fit and will probably last forever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits Like A Glove This case fits the camera and a basic lens, and actually screws into the camera base. It is perfect for protecting the camera and once it is slightly broken in (softer), you can shoot without removing the camera from the case. There is no room for storing spare cards, batteries, or any other kit. I have to remove the camera from the case still as it is too stiff to manage while trying to focus and shoot. But, I think that eventually, this will not be the case.
