The major calling card of this lens is the fast f/1.4 aperture, granting users excellent control over depth of field and the ability to work in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. Along with this, the lens incorporates a glass-molded aspherical element into the optical design to minimize astigmatism, coma, and other aberrations. Additionally, it has a nine-blade circular diaphragm for smooth bokeh.

Sony 35mm f/1.4 G Overview

A staple of the photojournalist's bag and loved by many for its slightly wider than normal perspective, the 35mm f/1.4 G Lens from Sony will make a great companion to your full-frame A-mount camera.

Optimized for intuitive handling, the 35mm features an Auto Clutch mechanism that prevents the focusing ring from moving when the lens is set to autofocus. It also has a focus hold button on the barrel for quickly accessing certain settings. Additionally, it has a rear focusing design which helps improve focusing speed and general operability.

A wide-angle prime designed for full-frame A-mount cameras, the 35mm can also be used on APS-C camera systems where it will provide a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.
The f/1.4 maximum aperture is exceptionally fast, allowing users to create images with shallow depth of field and work in low-light conditions with relative ease.
One glass-molded aspherical element is incorporated in the lens design to reduce astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations.
An Auto Clutch mechanism prevents the focusing ring from rotating when the lens is set to autofocus, allowing for easier, and more natural feeling control over the lens.
A rear focus design helps optimize the autofocus system for faster, more reliable focusing.
A focus hold button is present for intuitive tactile control and rapid access to select settings.
A minimum focus distance of 11.8" provides shooters with a 0.2x magnification that helps shooters get closer to their subject.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when employing selective focus techniques.

all around beautiful lens. it gives a very natural perspective. i primarily shoot weddings, and i was looking for a relatively wide fixed lens with great bokeh and low lens distortion. Jackpot! Now when I shoot weddings this lens stays on my a850 and the 70-200 2.8G stays on my a77. I have used the 24-70 2.8 zeiss lens for years, and it is fantastic. however, i wanted a fixed lens with less distortion, and this was the perfect addition to my arsenal. the lens flare is an awesome rainbow of color.

question

Will this work on the Sony a7s without vignetting? Thanks
Asked by: Anonymous
It will not vignette but it does not have a Sony E mount. It has the older Sony/Minolta mount. To use an A mount lens you need a lens adapter. One like, this,Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black)B&H # SOLAEA4 Mfr # LAEA4http://bhpho.to/1bKe4G1

Is the 35mm f/1.4 G lens compatible with Sony ...

Is the 35mm f/1.4 G lens compatible with Sony mirrorless cameras, eg A7III?
Asked by: Robert
No, this is an Alpha mount lens, not an E mount lens. You could use it on the A73 but you would need a lens adapter. Your best bet is to get the native 35mm E mount lens. Click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2CbhwOP

question

l am going to be taking movies with my Sony a99ii. Which lenses should l purchase to get great movies from this camera? Would a standard 35mm or a standard 50mm lenses work or which one is the better on to use on a full frame camera when taking movies?
Asked by: Dennis
I recommend using A99II in ASP-C mode pairing it with Sony's 16-50mm ssm.
