    Canon WD-H72 Reviews

WD-H72 72mm 0.8x Wide Angle Converter Lens is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value Does just what I wanted. Provides that little extra spread that is so popular in just about all visual media today. Well constructed, good optical quality. Very little light loss with just the right amount of curvature at the edges. Because of the all metal housing it isn't real light. My XHA1 is a tad front heavy with it mounted, but I got used to it quickly. You can zoom through this lens and retain clarity and depth. Can't beat this lens for the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from May not go back to non-wide I shoot a lot of celebrity red-carpets as well as documentaries. This lens was incredible on a doc shoot about a street fair in San Francisco. Even felt like I could do dutch angle shots with better composition. The price was nice and the quality seems to be what I'd expect from Canon. Not so greats? I haven't worked with a wide angle much in the past and I may just be smitten. Certainly the front end of the camera is heavier.I still see many Canon XHA1's out in the field and but I hardly see this wide lens. Too bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gives the Cinematic look This wide angle from Canon is excellent. Its construction though larger than you'd expect is of top grade glass and gives a professional look to your footage. I leave it on the camera all the time. Quite simply, if you own a Canon XH-A1, you need this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have bought this sooner! I previously bought a Canon wide angle adapter for my GL2 thinking I would use it now and then, that was 5 years ago and the adapter has never been removed from the GL2. I think the same is going to happen with my XH-A1s. I used the adapter for the first time last weekend at a wedding venue, how did I cope without it before? Yes it's heavy on the front end, but with being able to zoom through and have that 24mm (35mm equivalent) wide shot available, I think it's remaining on the camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So useful, I never take it off I do a lot of event and some news video in and around Washington D.C., and this wide angle attachment has really opened up how I can shoot. It is a perfect fit on my Canon XH A1 and secure to the point where you feel confident it is not going to come away from the camera. One of the best things about the lens is the ability to shoot through the wide-angle distortion by zooming all the way in, allowing me to just leave it on all the time. And while it certainly does add a good bit of weight to the front, mounting the camera to a longer plate where I can have the weight hang more off the back of my Manfrotto 561BHDV-1 has mitigated the imbalance. The biggest drawback is not the added weight, but the lack of threads on the front of the lens - which means no filters. Other than that, a good lens at a great price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great Its great for shot in small places, its heavy, and makes look the camera great, i used also attached to the wide angle lens for the xl1s and makes a big wide angle without many distortions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Cure and a Necessity We shoot in tight spots, so this one is a no-brainer. We needed a wide-angle and with no compromises, so we went with Canon for our Canon XHA1. The first recording proved this was crisp and clear in results. The WD-H72 is perfect for our in-house green screen shooting (in a small room using 4:3) and for Real Estate video tour shoots, though I'm sure it will stay on the camera more than off for many other situations.I used it indoors with no additional lighting (for a home tour in daylight hours) the first day this arrived and the footage was great.Comes with a lens hood and a cap that stays on (two things my co-producer's wide-angle did not have). The added weight can be tiresome if hand-held, though it seems to help me be more careful with balancing and shake. Settings on my XHA1 did not vary in response from what I can tell, using the WD-H72. This is a must have. ...

I bought this but honestly have no idea how to use it! Or how to put it on my Canon camera. Am I missing an attachment or is there a special way to use it?
    Asked by: Anonymous
Well, I am not sure specifically what camera you are mounting this onto but you are supposed to attach this onto an existing 72mm lens. It just screws right onto the existing lens and does not require any additional accessories.
