24" Mastercut Professional Rotary Cutter is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Truly Professional Grade Rotary Cutter I purchased this cutter to work with 13x19 inch paper. I wanted a solid cutter that would make clean, straight cuts. I got what I wanted and more. Based on other info found on the web, I thought the Rotatrim would only cut in one direction unless one made a dubious modification. I was happy to find that the cutter has instructions on the back to make it cut perfectly in both directions. It takes about 5 seconds to remove the protective guard. The caveat is that the guard prevents potential damage to the cutter by limiting the thickness one can cut. Since I am the only one that will use it I took the guard off. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Product I own an Epson 3880 pro printer and have struggled when trimming pictures in the past. I purchased this product and have trimmed several photos that were 17 x 22. The ease of operation is a dream come true. While the cutter is large, I am working with big paper so it would make sense that it is. Manuvering around the cutting deck is easy so the photos do not incur any damage that would occur trying to get them onto a smaller surface. The cuts are straight and clean. The dual rail system ensures perfection. The self sharpening cutter is razor sharp. The measuring grid allows easy calculations. Build quality is top notch. Well worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great trimmer, but not perfect Maybe I should give it 5 stars, but there is one thing that really annoys me. Accuracy. The grid printed on the baseboard doesn't quite match the ruler on the guidebar. The grid is more accurate, but it is only in 1/4-inch increments. If you just trim photos to a 1/4 inch, this would be 5-star material. But if you want to cut 2-3/16, good luck. Otherwise, it is very precise (precise means repeatable, accurate means you got the measurement you want) and has a high quality feel to it. It is probably the best trimmer on the market (the best I've used), but why can't anyone get the accuracy right on a paper trimmer?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Rotary Cutter I used the Rotatrim rotary cutters in college so I knew they were a quality brand. After college I got by without needing a trimmer for prints but now that I'm printing a little more at home I felt like it was necessary. I ordered the 24 because my largest paper right now is 13x19 so I needed something larger than the 18 cutter for those large prints. Only downside I have encountered was that while the trimming edge has a 24 ruler, the other ruler is only 12 which means anything larger on that edge needs a ruler (without printed guides on the paper.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect cuts every time! I print and cut my own photos for customers. It was necessary to have a reliable device that was precise in each cut. This performed well, much better than an exacto table I had before this. It would be great to have a padded clamp to hold large photos in place, but using a gloved hand does very well. The cutter is a heavy-weighted piece that requires no pressure from the user. Alignment is easy. I would advise anyone looking for a good cutter, to use the Mastercut series by Rotatrim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best In the Business I also own the Dahle Rotary Trimmer - but its has a few minor issues that are totally eliminated with the Rotatrim. I've been in the photography business a long time and this really is the better of the two. The double slide bar appears to keep the rotary blade rock in perfect contact against the flat straight blade. I'm amazed on how the cutter is able to shave even the minutest amount off the edge of the paper (when I failed to position the paper correctly the first time.!) I also like the very fine and accurate silk screenedgrid on the base board. It does make positioning the paper very reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impossible to dislike I use the Rotatrim Mastercut Pro 24 for trimming photos. It's expensive, but pays for itself very quickly with all of the frustration it saves you. I used one in in high school 20+ years ago, so I knew it existed, then I bought a regular paper cutter because it was cheaper, then I used a badly maintained Rotatrim at a copy shop, then I used a rotary fabric cutter with a ruler on a cutting mat. All to avoid a $ expense on a paper trimmer. 20+ years of frustration, and all I can say is that I wish I had starved myself in college for a couple of months back then. So much less painful. The 24 is perfect for anything that the 17 wide format Epson printers spew out. It is actually about 30 long and had 24 full unobstructed inches of reliable cutting capacity. It's a dream for photos. It can trim a fraction of a mm from the edge of Exhibition fiber paper without even needing to hold the paper still during the cut.I opted to buy this version instead of the monorail because both are expensive and I knew this would work from experience, and I knew I'm too disorganized to return the monorail if it wasn't what I wanted. The slightly less expensive monorail may work fine, but this definitely works exactly like you'd expect a $ cutter to work. The rulers and stop are ok, but not great, but that's not why you buy this. You buy this to print 14x21 on a 17x22 sheet and then trim it to 14.00 X 21.00. You use the image as the guide and you get it exactly right on the first try. This is like a Gitzo tripod. You suck it up, you spend the money, and then 20-30 years from now you are still using it, you're still happy, and the cost has long since been forgotten.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quite expensive but well worth it! I tried Dahle 554 Professional Rolling Trimmer first. It was too flimsy. Exhanged it for Rotatrim 24 Mastercut Rotary Cutter and never looked back. It is more expensive but well worth it. It feels solid, super sharp and accurate.
