Kodak's Professional Tri-X 400 Black and White Negative Film is a classic high-speed panchromatic film designed for a wide array of shooting conditions. Characterized by its fine grain quality, notable edge sharpness, and high resolving power, Tri-X 400 also exhibits a wide exposure latitude with consistent tonality. It has a nominal sensitivity of ISO 400/27° when developed in standard black and white chemistry, and responds well to push processing. As an all-around, highly versatile film, Tri-X 400 is a standard choice for photographing in difficult lighting conditions as well as when working with subjects requiring good depth of field or for faster shutter speeds.

This item is one 36-exposure roll of 35mm film.

Professional Tri-X 400 Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 756.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trusty TriX This film is definitely my most commonly used black and white film--for good reason, too! 400 ISO is a great all-around speed, but this film also has a very high latitude, so I don't always have to fuss too much over the precision of my exposure. It's great to work with in the dark room, producing negatives that are very easy to use. It's also a very capable film for pushing and pulling. Pushing 1 stop has a *barely* noticeable increase in grain size, but I wouldn't recommend pushing more than 2 stops. All around, just a great film that yields consistent and usable results! #sweepstakes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great film I use tri-x through a Leica M6 and Nikon F2. I develop in D76. The film has wonderful qualities in terms of grain structure but also good resolving power. I use it to shoot street photos and portraits. I have made 16x20 enlargements from this film and it holds up great! Love this film and always keep some handy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Time Film Lives Up To Reputation I am a retired (most of the time)Photo-Journalist, Documentary/Street Photographer, with a background in the military and Commercial photography. I am seventy-five years old and have used Tri-X for...let me see,how old is Tri-X? Yeah that long. It's performance has been, as always, right on the money. I now send my film out to be processed and printed and find almost as good a photograph being made as I could do. Thanks Mike Peal

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perennial favorite This is my standard film. I was an early adopter when Royal Pan came out and since it morphed into Tri-x, I never have used anything else (except for Ilford 3200 when needed). Tri-x produces sharp images, good tones, acceptable grain and is infinitely forgiving of my failures to expose it properly. When I travel, I tend to set my exposure and distance and shoot when images present themselves. That can produce a wild variation in light and shadow. Tri-x allows that. Cold and heat seem to have no effect on the film and it never has fogged when I've been unable to win a hand search at an airport. Another virtue: processing is simple. No special techniques or tricks. Even unibath in the Congo at some unknown temperature works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try it, you'll love it! From R. Capa and Cartier-Bresson to S. Salgado, Kodak Tri-X has been the absolute reference despite its progressive but discreet technological evolution fore more than 50 years. This last version of Tri-X emulsion is one more time at the pinnacle of classical B&W photography: good and highly forgiving sensitivity, excellent sharpness, rich tonality and fine but typical grain. Whatever the subject: portrait, action, street photography and even still-live ; whatever the format, from 135 to 4x5', tri-X look remains simply inimitable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Content Counts Tri-x is the workhorse of all films and still in strong demand. The grain structure and latitude of exposure charteristics of Tri-x give it a puurpose digital madia cannot replace. Underwater where the Nikonos IV is holding a place against the digital brotherhood, Tri-x allows for available light capture of the mysteries of our water planet. One cannot master photography without mastering the Content of their image and nothing teaches that faster then exposing Tri-X and learning how to control contrast through hand processing. KEEP SHOOTING!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Great Recently I developed a few rolls of 400TX that I had in my refrigerator for I don't know how long I can remember. My father died in September 2007 in when I developed this rolls, I discovered my dad in most of the photos and according to my estimate, this photos were taken some time in 2006...remember this, I just developed this rolls in September 2015. They were inside my refrigerator for 9, yes nine years and the pictures, looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time using black and white film This was my first time using black and white film and I was very pleased with the product. I used a Canon EOS 620 with the 40mm pancake lens and the results look like I went back 20 years in the past to take the pictures. The look of the pictures is something I don't think I could ever achieve with a digital camera. This was my first time processing film and I'm sure that my chemicals weren't mixed 100% properly, but the film was forgiving and still developed well enough. I scanned the images with my 6D and 100mm macro lens, and I was happy with the results.
