    Canon VL-10i II reviews

VL-10Li II On Camcorder Battery Video Light is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great, bulb is replaceable As a photographer, sometimes I use a video light as a light modification. This Canon video light rocks and is much better than its major competitor from another brand. + 10W is plenty of power and it delivers about 220cd at the center according to spec. The angle of coverage is 22 degree (from spec). + If you use a BP-970G battery with it, you get about four to five hours of use. It's good enough for my application of photography. + The bulb is replaceable. These bulbs burn out in 50-100 hours. I've used one from another brand that requires you to replace the whole unit. That translates to a high cost per hour. I switched to Canon as a result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice light I already owned the VL3 (3 watt) Canon video light, which works fine, but wanted a second more powerful light. This 10 watt light uses the same batteries as my GL2 .. a definite plus .. and, of course, it puts out more light than it's 3 watt cousin. Is 10 watts enough for you?? Only you can say. There are some folks who want a 20 or 30 watt light and would not be caught dead with anything smaller. This light does its job, and does it well. NOTE: I own the previous model (not a model II) Canon has added a circuit that extends bulb life. When you first power on the light it does not come on at full brilliance. After about one second it goes to full brightness and stays there. Most bulbs burn out when turned on. By having less strain on the bulb (not full brilliance) the bulb has time to warm up and there is not as much shock to the filiment ... the bulb lasts longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good These requests for reviews come before I have had much experience with the product, but the camcorder light looks tough, able to take a beating, is well made, and works as advertised. I like the idea that it uses the same battery as the camcorder. But those are expensive batteries and now I need one dedicated to the light. I have had it on and I did test it for the amount of light it offers. It throws out plenty of light by itself, although I will add my LED light. I didn't think the LED light was enough by itself (external panel light), but this offers as much light as I had hoped for. So at 5:30 a.m. you'll be able to light the person speaking and not blow out the sunriseas happened with the LED panel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect lighting for a perfect camcorder I bought the VL-10li almost two years ago,This is our second one for our second camcorder, my wife and I shoot weddings and events with canon xh-a1's and vl-10 video lights. The light uses the same batteries as our camcorders do, and it lights any subject evenly!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful light source Useful light source in those darkish (Weddings & party) venue halls, and the same batteries as the XL1s is a plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's great for the price I just needed on-camera light for general use (Canon XL1s) and this does a pretty good job to illuminate subjects. It depends on which batteries you use for camera and the light, but this can add a bit more weight than you would like. I would recommend that you prepare multiple smaller batteries if this is an issue for you. I wish this had other power options, but, hey, for the price, this is wonderful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again and again I have always used these Canon lights for wedding videography and I don't think there is a better battery out there for the Canon Cameras. It's the exact amount of light you need and doesn't blow out your subject.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for off camera lighting!!! I use this for outside evening/night shoots with brides and grooms. It gives just enough light to illuminate them without changing the sky or light behind them. LOVE IT!!!
