This 3 pack of LegCoat Protectors is made from closed-cell neoprene and heavy-duty padding to protect your tripod's legs from the elements, bumps and scratches. The material is also designed to be comfortable against your shoulders during transport. Additionally, LegCoats camouflage the tripod's legs when you're shooting outdoors. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for what it's intended for.... I use these leg wraps with my Gitzo 3540LS tripod, and they're great! I carry my tripod with the lens mounted and the base of the tripod sitting on my shoulder, as that's the most comfortable way to carry a long lens. This product stops the tripod legs digging into your shoulders, but note that you still need to make or purchase a pad for the base of the tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good for outdoor/landscape It helps me a lots that protects the tripod and my hands during the cold weather. High quality, nice touch and fit. The only thing is not so great for me specifically, is the thinkness could be thinner. I have smaller than average hands and feel a bit bulky to grap the tripod with the legcoat on. Other than that, everything is great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not thrilled ... Bought these for a GT3541 XLS to protect the tripod and give me a bit more comfort carting it. I kept the kit, but there are several things I don't like: (1) the protectors are a stingy 9 long. (2) they stay in place by a strip of adhesive on the inside of the foam against the leg. I don't think it will work for long. (3) The foam is overly thick making the tripod unnecessarily bulky. (4) The rubberized jacket that goes over the foam is held closed by a strip of velcro. It's lumpy, not seamless and (5) the jacket is not long enough to close over the ends of the foam -- more lumpiness. All-in-all, very disappointing. But, I guess, maybe better than nothing ... or maybe not. What I did: I put the foam aside ( ! ) and used only the jacket. This gave me two layers of rubberized material which it looks like the velcro will hold onto. It's still lumpy but not bulky and it's clinging well to the leg without adhesive. Let's see what happens ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from perfect for the job Helps in 2 ways: padding on my shoulders when I carry the tripod with lens & camera attached; and as insulation against the cold when carrying my tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good investment Acceptable padding for carrying tripod and lens combo.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from bulky and overpriced I purchased a set of these to use with my GT3541LS. I figured they would protect my tripod legs and make the tripod more comfortable to carry. I was not impressed on either count. When I received the package, the first thing that surprised me is that the protectors did not run the entire length of the upper legs. They were several inches too short. I thought that maybe I ended up with the wrong ones but, according to the packaging, I did not.I was also surprised at the construction. Basically, they are made from foam pipe insulation -- the same stuff you find at ... -- wrapped in a thin neoprene skin. Understand what I'm saying here: the insulation is a separate part. So you put the foam pipe insulation on your tripod, then you wrap it with the thin layer of neoprene. It's easy enough but the end result is not very finished-looking in my opinion. (I tend to be meticulous about stuff like this.)In addition to not being particularly attractive, the insulation is, for my taste, too thick and bulky. It definitely pads the tripod leg -- at least the part of the leg that is covered -- but there is actually too much padding. The final nail in the coffin is the price. I wouldn't mind paying the asking price for a quality product but I could literally make these myself for next to nothing. In the end, my opinion might not be so strong were I not using another product, the Manfrotto leg protectors, on another tripod. These run the length of the tripod leg, and protect the tripod leg and your hands without being bulky, plus they look sharp. There are a couple reviews on the site that complain about a white gooey substance on them; I have not had that problem at all. The only reason I ordered these LegCoats instead is because the Manfrottos say Manfrotto and I'm putting them on a Gitzo tripod. I regret even worrying about that now; I've ordered another set of Manfrotto protectors to put on my new 3541.
