    Celestron OMNI-XLT 150 reviews

Omni XLT 150mm f/5 EQ Reflector Telescope is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scope I've always wanted a good telescope to begin viewing the heavens, and this one does the trick. I wanted a quality tube without spending a ton of money. I did my research and kept coming back to the Omni XLT 150. It's got great apeture and comes with Celestron's Star Bright XLT coatings, available on their higher end scopes. I couldn't be more pleased. It's solid, well-built, and offers great views. It's all manual, so doesn't have any GOTO capabilites or other fancy features. The equatorial mount takes some getting used to, but it solidly built and holds the telescope well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better Scope than I expected I guess I didn't really think about the size much, but it was so much larger than I was expecting, and heavier too. That being said, the first night I assembled it, the instructions were easy to follow. My first observations were amazing, compared to my old (30 years plus) refractor. The bonus Meade eyepiece is much better than the standard eyepiece. I had a hard time identifying what I was looking for, because so many more appeared than I could see with my eye. Once I got the base pointed and oriented in the proper direction, finding and following objects was very easy. My first observations of the moon brought out detail I had never seen before with binoculars, or the old refractor. This is everything I was looking for in my new scope, except heavy to move (but great for stability of image).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five stars Five star. Celestron Omni XLT 150mm is a great amateur telescope, well built, high quality optical, stable CG-4 mount. It's easy to setup and operate. User collimation is required. A high quality Laser Collimator is recommended. The double cardboard carton packing seems OK, with minor damages on outside and some inside styrofoam buffer blocks. I'd suggest that the seller improve the packing and shipping in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice telescope Got the telescope delivered on the day they told me it would be, read the manual, set it up, and that night we saw Jupiter. For the money..... it works great. I'm a happy customer. Get that size just to try out reflectors and will get another, but bigger. Only downside, be sure to get a collimating eyepiece, or laser, to be sure the mirrors are aligned to insure best image possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice scope! Great beginner/intermediate scope. Very nice optics. A little on the heavy side, but G4 mount is quite stable. Reviewed after use of a few times.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's seeing a lot of time out at night The quality of the image is great for casual observation even with the eyepieces that came with the scope. It's light enough that it isn't a hindrance to setting it up on a whim and yet powerful enough to see pretty much everything you need in the sky. We were out with the local astronomical league on a camping trip and the weather was going in and out of rain and clear skies. The 12 inch SCTs and the 14in Dobsonians never made it out. Everybody just used my scope that could be set up and taken down in minutes. For this price point, consider this scope rather than a smaller aperture but with a Goto. A smart phone or a tablet can help you find the planets, deep sky objects, etc. Just one negative... if you live in latitudes that are less that 20 - 25 degrees, the counterweights dangle too low and bump on one of the legs of the tripod when you want to move the scope from left to right requiring the counterweight disks to be lifted over the leg. A little inconvenient but not the end of the world. But for that, I'll take off one star from an otherwise 5 star experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot of viewing for the money - High Quality First of all, B&H handled this order superbly, with lowest price and free shipping. Now the scope. High quality in my opinion and outstanding for the money. Tripod and mount built like a tank and operates smoothly - controls are excellent and the CG4 mount is all that folks say it is for the money - I also scored a Polar site used at the time I bought this from B&H. I originally wanted a GOTO but elected for the equatorial to learn the sky better and I am not sorry cause it got me so much more scope. Collimation almost perfect out of the box. Well packaged. First night out saw Jupiter (easy target) and 4 of its moons very clearly low in the sky. Could make out the bands faintly using a 6 mm lens. Rock solid. Very little vibration. Supplied lens very nice as well - 25mm. Note that the OTA itself is short, but the tripod and mount are heavy and not petite like my Nexstar 130SLT - make sure you have a place to store it. In summary, VERY happy with the scope and the service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best starting scope first up of all for this price you cant get a product as precise as this one. Everything is just fine. First i saw moon and i just amazed with details. Jupiter with two cloud belts. Saturn with rings. Venus phase was amazing. Bright deep sky objects like andromeda galaxy, orion nebula can seen directly through eyepiece. For faint nebulas you have to use long exposure photography. I have provided some photos taken on nikon d5200. pros- 1)150mm mirror with special xlt coatings is capable to see bright nebulas and to capture faint nebulas also. 2)secondary mirror with four hand spider assembly is rough and tough. 3)big 2 smoth cray-ford focucer with adujstable tension screw. 4)a much better finder-scope. 5)best equatorial mount for this price with smooth and precise slow-motion control. 6) azimuth adjustment screws are also useful. 7)tripod with 1.75 legs can easily handle this much of weight. having extendable height. 8) with motor drive provided by celestron tracks accurately with rough north alignment. cons- 1) finder-scope adujstment screws are not smooth. can consume time for perfect alignment. 2) barrel of focuser wear and tear after some time as you start using it as cray-ford focuser works on tension between barrel and metal stick. 3) most frustrating is if you live below 25 degree on latitude scale counter-weight will bump on north-side leg. And every time slewing the scope from one side to another side of sky you must remove the counter-weights and again attaching them. 4) there should be the slip-clutch for R.A. motor-drive. every time you have loose locking screw.
