Savage 36-2612 Overview

  • 1Description

Photograph people and products against a smooth, uncluttered background with this 26" x 36' roll of #36 Ocean Blue Widetone Seamless Background Paper from Savage. To facilitate even lighting, the surface of the paper is non-reflective and has a fine-tooth finish. In addition to photography, the paper may be used for events, decorations, banners, and more.

The paper density is 100 pounds, or 145 gsm, an easy-to-handle resilient thickness of 7.6 mil, and comes wound on a core with a 2.125" interior diameter. A plastic sleeve protects the roll in transit and can be saved to provide continued protection when the paper is not in use. The paper should be stored vertically to reduce the possibility of warping and other damage. Photographers often use clamps to secure the paper to a backdrop stand as well as tape to secure the paper to the floor if rolled out for full-body shots. The paper is acid-free and 100% recyclable.

Due to the manufacturing process, it's not uncommon for sizes to fluctuate slightly. In most cases the amount of fluctuation won't matter.

Savage 36-2612 Reviews

Widetone Seamless Background Paper (#36 Ocean Blue, 26" x 36') is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 96.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for product shots Savage makes 3 flavors of white seamless paper. White, Pure White, and Super White. The White is a bit creamy, which makes it great for passport photos and other headshots. The Super White has optical brighteners (read: bleaches) that can result in a bluish tinge under lights that put out a lot of UV (e.g. non-UV coated studio strobes). It's not hard to work around, but it's something the be aware of. Which leaves Pure White. I love the Pure White because it's exactly that, which makes it perfect for small product shots, particularly with the 26 size. I put a roll on a background support, set up a strobe shooting through a translucent umbrella opposite a white reflector and I get perfect soft shadowless light every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Am Loving This Color!! I brought this color in particular due to the great reviews. I'm a semi-pro photographer, and mostly will photograph clothing items (and my cat when I can get her to sit, LOL) and with all the test shots that I did, I love it. The colors of my items were very true to color, which is very important due to the fact that I sell vintage clothing online. I need for my potential buyers to see the item as I see it, and not have to adjust the color.I will now order the 107 size for the items on my manni and the 53 for the handbags and other items. ... I was like a child at Christmas waiting for it. I love!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sure makes life easy OK - I admit it. I was taking photos on glossy printer paper. That kind of limited me to really small items. No fun. I tried several alternatives and then ordered the paper with the idea that I would make a little photo table with the paper suspended above and then draped on the table. It worked out great. I can now shoot bigger items and even better, different angles because I have a better backdrop. I was kind of worried that it would have a standard paper texture, which shows up in the photos - especially tight macros. Not the case - this is a very hard, smooth paper and pretty heavy. I do not have to worry about the texture at all. After shooting, I just roll it back up and tuck it away until the next time. Overall, it has made my life much easier. It is a great product at a pretty good price. When my paper gets old and used up (cat paw prints), I will order another roll. Very happy with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too Small for Portraits Bought this for a series of baby portrait sessions I have coming up. It arrived promptly, packaged well. The product itself is great quality, love the color however it is just too small. It is mostly my fault for not reading the description correctly reading 26 inches, not sure why I thought that meant 3 feet.. Anyway while its a great product in quality I am not sure it is usable for portraits, actually I'm not quite sure what a roll so small in width would be used for. I will be ordering the bigger sized next, thankfully B&H always ships fast! Early enough to receive my next order before my sessions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well satisfied with both product and service! The focus gray paper was promptly shipped and worked well with both our background work and our light cube. One glitch was that someone had put staples through the packing box wall on all four sides and that did do some damage to the outer layers of our roll. Not sure why that happened since the staples did not seem to have any relationship to any labeling. Perhaps a one time happening since all other aspects of sale were very good. GWB

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as smooth a finish as I had hoped picked up a roll of white and black of this material for product photography. draped it down and lit it to get some separation for a shot i was working on. was hoping for a nice even black but the paper has a texture to it when lit. kind of like the type of clouds you get from photoshop. i think something like this would be better suited for portraits since while it doesnt look BAD overall having that kind of texture when one wants a solid separated background isnt the most desireable trait.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When paper is more than paper. Simply put, it's just a roll of paper. However this paper background is a top quality product and most importantly it's non-reflecting. Very useful in my photography.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great background for product shots I had been using posterboard as my background for product shots for years, and this stuff is way better. For example, it's very long, so I don't have to jam two bits of paper together and then hope the seam doesn't show. It's just the right width for my table so I can get the lights close. There's plenty of paper here too, so I'm not going to run out any time soon. The price was right, and I'm happy I went with the Pure White, based on other peoples reviews of the other colors. Pure White is the white you're thinking of when you want a white background.

What it says Core Wound does that mean there is tube so this can go on a support rail?
Asked by: Anonymous
This roll of paper would come with a heavy cardboard core where a crossbar can be inserted into it for attachment to a background support. It can also be connected to manual or motorized background supports which expand at either end of the core. Please see the images below for reference to those.

Is this paper 26 or is it 1/2 of a 53 roll? Does it vary between 26 and 27 or even more? I'm building a shooting table and need to know how wide to make the roller for the paper while keeping it to the minimum width.
Asked by: john a.
The roll of paper is exactly 26 . Sometimes the paper tube will come out a bit on the edges, but the actual paper width is 26 .
