Olympus LH-61D reviews

LH-61D Lens Hood is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Right Because the 40-150 lens reaches out so far it is vulnerable to have the sun shine on the lens causing flare on the images. Enter this nifty lens hood ...problem solved! It is easy to fit on (with clear arrow indication) and clicks firmly into place. When you store your camera away, the lens hood is reversed siting comfortably over the lens so fits in the camera bag. I also like the idea that the lens hood helps protect the lens glass and should you get caught in the rain it keeps the rain off the glass so not spoiling the image. Being Olympus brand everything fits together perfectly with a quality feel about it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does its job. It's a lens hood. I'm not a good enough photographer (yet) to be able to catch little things that might matter, but... it fits my Oly 40-150 lens, it seems to be manufactured well (no defects, scratches, etc.), and all that. Seems to be a sturdy enough plastic I don't expect to have any problems with it. Only problem I have is I bought a 58-62mm step up ring to use my 62mm filters with the lens, and of course, the hood doesn't fit over the oversized filters. Duh. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because... it's a round piece of plastic. Not enough stuff here to fall 5-stars in love with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does it's job! I stopped putting UV filters on my lenses because I believe they degrade image quality and in 45 years of shooting I've never damaged a front element but I do use lens hoods! For one thing, they prevent flare from studio lights or side-lighting and another, they protect the lens. They are also a lot cheaper than a UV filter. I am also a brand snob I do not like to mix equipment or user third-brand accessories/lenses. Whenever something ever went wrong on a photo shoot I traced it back to the non-righteous accessory.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Enough It's a lens hood does its job. Bayonets onto lens, installs reversed for storage just like a good little m4/3rds accessory saving space. Expected it to lock in place like the included hood on the Pro ED 12 to 40. Come to think of it why is it not included with the lens?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good hood but why isn't it included with the lens? I've bought 3 of these. One for my wife, one for my daughter/son-in-law, and one for me, to use with Olympus 40-150 lenses. It fits. It stores in reverse. It offers sun shading and rain protection as it should. But why, why, why, doesn't Olympus include lens hoods with their lenses like the rest of the civilized world? I give it 4, not 5 stars because it does what it should but should have come with the lens and shouldn't cost nearly what it does as an add-on purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from helpful This is a nice, simple piece of equipment to mainly protect the lens. I am not a pro and probably do not yet appreciate the other functions of the hood. For me, it was most helpful in keeping the lens safe and not having to have a lens cap. It is someone long and needs some planning to fit it in a carry bag but it is not very bulky. It is definitely worth the investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well, it's a lens hood It fits the lens it is designed for. It keeps my OMD pretty compact even with the zoom and hood on, which is important to me because I travel a lot. When out and about I just use the hood, no lens cap to always be ready. Very functional. I guess I could give it 5, but really, is is a cone shaped piece of plastic. So that would be sort of silly, no?
