Billingham 335 overview

  • 1Description

The Billingham 335 Shoulder Bag in black with tan leather trim is designed to carry two digital SLR cameras with three lenses and accessories. This bag is lined in green fabric, and constructed from soft-weave fabric which helps eliminate abrasions, combined with canvas dual-laminate waterproof fabric . It features a heavy-duty, closed cell foam padded interior and a double-laminated, removable hard bottom. It also has Superflex 9-15 and 10-18 partitions for separating and organizing the interior.

The 335 bag has four interior slip pockets that are located between the main inner compartment and the exterior, along with two large front exterior pockets and two pen pockets on the front. An interior grab handle allows you to carry the bag with the protective cover flap open, and a leather grab handle snaps together securely for another carrying option. Additionally, there is a Delta Sling shoulder strap with a heavy-duty, neoprene-backed leather shoulder pad.

    Billingham 335 reviews

335 Shoulder Bag (Canvas, Black with Tan Leather Trim) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than Expected I have, like most been looking for the ideal travel bag or some time. During this process I have found myself owning all sorts of back packs, shoulder bags and vests. Originally I discounted Billingham as being too over the top and too expensive for my needs but I was wrong. I found that all of my bags were either too big padded and clumsy or too skimpy for an extended trip. This bag is great. It provides an amazing amount of storage for its size and my Nikon D2xs with 17-55 and 80-400, flash and other accessories fit well with plenty of room to spare. My primary focus is travel and this is the carry-on bag that holds my camera gear and travel docs easily. I will never leave on a trip again without this bag and my trusty Domke vest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged Transport The bag allows the user any type of internal configuration that best suits the equipment carried within. I use a Nikon D2X body with a 17mm - 35mm lens and the combination can be rather large. The camera/lens can be positioned horizontally within the bag for maximum protection when rough handling is anticipated and positioned upright when easy access is required. The internal equipment dividers are padded square channels that maintain their form better than simple divers used in other camera bags. A rigid base with padded side is included and when placed within the bottom of the bag, equipment within the interior compartment is protected on all sides without impeading access to the bag. Considering the investment of a pro-camera body, lens, second lens, and flash unit, a high quality bag will ensure that your best equipment is in tact for the next assignement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful, handsome bag This is the perfect bag, with a lot of room and several compartments. The few extra inches it has on the 225 model makes a big difference (I tried both). The function is superb while not having to forgo style. And with so much padding (that isn't bulky and doesn't get in the way), I don't worry about the safety of my equipment. I'm smaller framed and do find the bag to be quite heavy and too large when full. It can be awkward for me to carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive...But WORTH It! I have owned more camera bags than I will admit to in my search for the perfect bag. There may not be a perfect bag out there, but for me this one is it. The construction, the padding, the space, the materials...all GREAT! I wish I had found this bag a long time ago...I would have saved myself a lot of $$$ on all of those other bags.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exceptional Construction This is a work of art, but that not withstanding, I don't think it provides the best utilization of space as delivered. It's big, it's hard to get in and out of, but it seems to protect the equipment. It comes with a few dividers that I didn't find very useful. I found on a 6,000 mile trip that I was constantly pulling stuff from this bag and loading it into a relatively inexpensive Tamrac bag with a very supportive divider system for a body with lens and extras for the actual shooting that I did. But it is beautiful and i'll keep it for no other reason than that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Billingham 335 I've used this bag for about 4+ years now. The only con is the weight, but you get used to it. The best feature is its ease of use as the shoulder pad stays on your shoulder and the bag on your hip. The top stays widely open so each lens is easy to get at, simply by feel. This is mostly due to the stiffness of the bag (much more so than the Domke). Despite the stiffness the bag stays on your hip without rocking. The stiffness adds to the protection, which is a strong feature of this bag. It can be tossed onto a hard surface from 5 feet without worrying about damaging the contents. The zipper closure has allowed me to drive down dusty Mississippi roads and to work in the North African desert with dirtying the equipment. I worked in a steady rain for three days in France, working out of the bag with the top flap protecting the gear--nothing wet. As a test, it sat out in a thunderstorm with a sugar cube inside--it stayed dry inside. The bag can be a little slow to get into with all closures buttoned up (zipper, top flap, and handle snaps), and you can miss some shots--but you can opt to keep them open, and as I said, the top flap kept the rain out by itself. The high initial expense of the bag is well worth it for the protection and ease of use. It's also handsome. Expertise: Pro Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Domke F6, F2, and 5 series bags. Also, a backpack bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Professional Yes the bag cost a lot but think of all the money you spent for the items in it. You want everything to be secure and safe, and this bag does just that. Has plenty of space for everything you need with you for a shoot (even can squeeze a 11 macbook air). The only knock is that the tripod strap is sold separately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Camera Bag I Own This bag exceeded my expectations. It's extremely well made, it protects all of my equipment, and on top of all that, it looks better than any other camera bag I've ever had or have even seen before. I was just on a trip where I managed to pack: a 5D camera with 24-70mm lens attached, 28mm lens, 50mm 1.8, 50mm 1.2, lens, 100mm lens (all lenses had lens hoods), a flash, charger for flash batteries, charger for 5D battery, my 13 inch Macbook, Macbook charger, memory cards and readers, and still had room to spare for some more accessories. Yes, the bag was heavy, but it's designed to distribute the weight well so it wasn't all that bad for just carrying through an airport. I can imagine carrying it all day might be a completely different story. I love this bag so much that I am going to purchase a smaller Billingham for shooting and for trips I know I won't need all that equipment. One thing you should know is that the shoulder pad IS included when you buy this bag! I bought one thinking it wasn't! This bag is definitely worth the price, I will have it for life.
