    Sony SA-W2500 Reviews

    SA-W2500 100W Powered 10- Subwoofer is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 98.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good solid inexpensive sub I attached this subwoofer to my Sony STR-DG800 home theater receiver to add the .1 to my 5.1 speaker setup to go with my Panasonic Plasma Tv. The subwoofer cable that was supplied connected directly to the receiver, so it was a no-muss, no-fuss installation. Overall, I've been impressed by this product's performance. I imagined the subwoofer would be overwhelming, but in fact, its effect is simply to make sound tracks sound more realistic. Yes, you can pump it up to create that thump thump effect, but the bass sound it produces is clean, and the auto-calibration settings on the receiver keep it from being overpowering. It's a great subwoofer for the money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Serves its purpose Have an Q line SLS audio home theater system that has unbelievable sound for the price that I paid for it (caught it at ... during their clearance of selling it). Unfortunately my sub got messed up in a floor in my basement and had to be replaced. Was considering this sub and the Yamaha that is similarly priced and chose this one frankly because I am cheap. It has taken me a minute to tweak the EQ, but it finally delivers decent bass. The power-save is a joke and has to be turned off or else the sub keeps cutting in and out, plus I have the cutoff frequency nearly at max, but in the end it compliments the rest of the system adequately

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Subwoofer and Provides Great Base This sub replaced my 9 year old sub that failed after I experienced some power surges. This sub adds so much more base and it was only slightly larger than the older sub. I had to turn the volume down half way because it was rattling the windows and cabinet doors. I would recommend this sub to anyone who's surround speakers are a little lacking on the bass side. This sub fills my family room, dinette area and kitchen portion of the house. Only minor annoyance is the auto shutoff feature kicks in during dialog only scenes during a movie or during the news. Otherwise it will turn back on when music is played in the background. Work around is to flip the auto off switch to ON.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boom shake shake the room! It's cheap, but not cheaply made. It's black, but my racist friends accept it. Its complexity level to hook it up to the receiver makes it easy, but not like my ex-girlfriend. I guess what I'm sayin' is I like it. It serves its purpose in life & that's to bring out the low tones when I'm watching a movie. If you don't have a subwoofer for your home theatre & you're on a budget or you're a tightwad, get this while it's in stock. It will improve your life & extend your lifespan. Chicks dig it. My current lady likes playing a little Barry White & so does my new subwoofer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Subwoofer for the price I bought this subwoofer to go with my souround system. Panasonic soround speaker, and Sony 5.1 receiver. This subwoofer works really great. It has a level adjuster to adjust the volume of the woffer. You can also adjust the frequency for the subwoofer to adjust just how much bass you want out of it. It's a power sub, so it comes with a plug (you have to plug it in, plan for that), but it has a power save setting that if you turn it on, will keep the speaker off if no sound is being played after 10 mins or so. This actually works really well. Turns right on as soon as the sound comes in. It comes with an RCA cable already, so no need to buy one and felt stick ons for hardwood floor instalation. This is a great subwoofer for the money. You will not be disapointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just was I was looking for! ... Tired of the cluttered look, I decided to take the 5 speakers off my walls, I purchased a soundbar for my TV. I was also able to get rid of my beast of an amplifier/reciever/5.1 decoder to my delight! I still felt I needed a fuller deeper bass, and this Sony is just what the doctor ordered. It had to be a powered not passive woofer, and it HAD to have 'built-in crossover'. This really rounds out the sound and is easily adjustable. (I only wish the controls were on the front.) But you CANNOT beat the price ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bass I use this as part of a 5.1 surround sound system for playing movies as well as stereo classical music CDs. It provides good solid bass for music as well as the usual sound track explosions and earthquakes. I do not use the auto on feature, just leave it powered all the time. Have to be carefull with the amp crossover and bass settings; too much bass boost and it becomes boomy or muddy. Once you tweak it in its good.
