Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good optics and sturdy body I ordered this microscope for son's birthday. It was perfect for my needs in three regards. 1.)The 3 magnification levels were great for everything we found outside that has become a specimen. 2.)I was concerned that this might be a bit delicate for my son. Aside from the obvious fragility of the optics, this thing could probably hammer nails. Don't tell my son that, though. 3.)I was worried that a light might be better than the mirror. Many of the lights get hot and my son actually loves adjusting the mirror. We have been very happy with this scope and it's retro 50's green/blue color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This one is a joy What can I say, I like it a lot. I had a dream that one day I would buy Leica DM700 to be set, for that mini cosmos. I saw this , I did read reviews , I bought it. This celestron was an instant joy. Five slides are very cool. Honey bee, section of a xylem. Lovely, Optic quality is adequate. There is not a wild depth of field but hey :) I am looking through all kind of plant life bugs etc ... Love the fact that it has a mirror, If I have to I can take it out to a field. My next goal is to be able to prepare a slide of a leaf and see stomata. yes it is a joy. I got next step up 500x for my son's birthday. Thank you BnH for it, all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great equipment at a really good price! Bought this as a first microscope for my daughter. She loves it. I'm a high school science teacher and I couldn't afford to spend a lot of money but definitely didn't want to loss out on quality. I am thrilled with this purchase. The quality is comporable to the scopes I use in class labs and I have no doubt this was significantly less than the price of the other scopes. If you're looking for a great microscope that is under $100, this is a gem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice scope. ... I am a truck driver, spending 4-5 wks on the road at a time. When it was obvious I would not be home in time to shop for my kids' Christmas, I began searching online.I knew I wanted to get them a microscope and almost went with another brand until I found it lacking a necessary feature. I didn't want a toy. I wanted a unit that would serve them throughout their school years. ... When I arrived home, Christmas Day and opened it the scope and box of prepared slides I had ordered were perfect and did exactly as I had hoped in exciting their inquisitive minds. The optics are awesome. I intend to check on a 25x eyepiece, if available, but 400x is enough to keep them interested for a long while. I like the light mirror versus an actual light just for simplicity. It is as durable as the units I remember in biology class. The made in China sticker was the only disappointment, but overall, I have to say it is of excellant quality and would highly recommend this scope ... Thanks folks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value This is a solid High School biology microscope. Hard to believe it was only $90. It's built like a tank and feels like it will stand up to many years of use. Assembly was minimal and easy. The threading for the objective lenses was very well drilled and each lens screwed into place gorgeously. The objective nosepiece turns very smoothly, with each objective lens clicking gently but securely into position. The coarse and fine focus knobs both work smoothly and I was able to quickly bring objects into focus even at 400x magnification. I tried a regular lamp and work light as light sources. The lamp was adequate and the work light was actually a bit too bright. I'll probably pick up some kind of book light to use with it as this seems like it would do the job. Overall, great product, outstanding value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT It is one awesome microscope. I am an artist, this microscope was right in my budget. From NewYork USA to Istanbul, it came pretty fast and it was well protected.I like to say optic quality is adequate.Certainly not a TOY. I do not want to sound, misleading cause I have never looked through leading lenses like Leica or Zeiss systems. But this Celestron is something... I use it almost everyday. Thank you to everyone who made it possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I love it- easy to focus, and easy to assemble plus the fact that the price is reasonable. It's not made of plastic but of metal.
