The Rycote Mini Windjammer provides optimum wind diffusion for smaller microphones. Like the standard Windjammer, the Mini Windjammer provides 10 - 12dB extra protection over standard windscreens. This Windjammer accommodates the microphones included with the Sony HDV-A1 and HDR-HC1 cameras.

Mini Windjammer is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly efficient I bought this Windjammer without much enthusiasm for my Sony HVR-A1U. It seemed thin, so not efficient. I was surprised to observe that it reduces significantly the noise of winds up to 10 to 15 mph. There is still some noise left, but it is much less bothering. I recommend buying this item, keeping in mind that it will not be as efficient as a Zeppelin!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works as advertised to reduce wind noise from the internal mics. In the case of the HVR-A1, the hole in this mini Windjammer allows the XLR adapter to be mounted. But if you are using the XLR adapter, then you likely would be using external mics - so protecting the internal mics from picking up wind noise with the mini Windjammer is extraneous. I guess one could leave the XLR adapter attached - but not connected/used... Remove the XLR Adapter, slide the mini Windjammer and position, re-install the XLR adapter through the hole. In the case of the HDR-HC1, the hole is where the flash (for still images) pops up. I don't use the HC1 for stills, but wanted this review to be complete for others. In order to get the flash through the hole, you need to slide the mini Windjammer on, push it back nearest the camcorder body, pop the flash up, pull the mini Windjammer over the open flash, then stretch/position the mini Windjammer. The hole in the mini Windjammer is not large enough for the flash to pop up through it. Closing the flash just reverses that process. I can't exactly blame the mini Windjammer. The mics are located on either side of the lens barrel pretty close to the flash door edge. Be careful not to get fuzzy material caught between the flash cover and the camera. The elastic stretch stuff to secure the mini Windjammer to the lens barrel seems a bit chintzy, and each time I put it on, I expect them to tear away from the fuzzy part - so far so goo, though. I guess I need to carry rubber bands in my bag... I bought this to reduce wind noise picked up by the internal mics. The mini Windjammer does that.
