  • 1Description

The camouflage SS-600 Sport Shield Rain Cover from Aqua Tech is primarily designed to fit Nikon or Canon digital or film SLR cameras, with lenses up to 23 x 8.0" attached. It is made of high-quality, 3-ply, waterproof, breathable fabric, fully tape seam sealed with waterproof silicone sealing around the view windows. It is made with YKK weatherproof zippers for ease of application and removal. The rain cover provides a watertight seal around lens front. The one-piece design provides complete enclosure and moisture protection for both the camera body and lens with a "glove-like" fit. It is designed with a waterproof sleeve to access and operate the camera controls safely and easily.

There are draw strings on hand access and tripod sleeve for protection when not in use. It has waterproof view windows to monitor camera functions. The eyepiece cover flap protects the viewfinder when not in use.

Note: Requires an eyepiece to hold cover to camera and maintain waterproofing.

Sport Shield rain covers are designed to protect professional cameras and lenses from adverse weather conditions such as wind, rain, salt air, and sand. They are manufactured using a versatile, high-performance, and Multi-Layer Barrier Fabric System. This design seals the fabric with a series of coatings or "layers" that prevent driving rain, water, snow or dust from entering the fabric. 1
The Multi Layer Barrier Fabric System "sandwiches" the textile. The outside face is treated with a Teflon water-repellant finish preventing surface absorption of water, dirt, dust and oil. The inside surface is coated with three successive layers of a specially engineered formula which combine to create a tough, durable and permanent waterproof system. 2

    AquaTech SS-600 Reviews

SS-600 Sport Shield Rain Cover (Camouflage) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rain cover If you spent 4-8K for a lens then it is worth the investment to protect it and this rain cover is worth the money. I bought this for my Canon 400 2.8 lens to shoot a NCAA football game in the rain. It's construction is extremely durable and once you get the hang of it is fairly simple to put on. If you have a zoom type lens then this could cause some difficulty in running the zoom but for a fixed lens it worked well. Worked best when I had the lens attached to my monopod. Don't forget to get the correct eye piece, I recommend visiting the manufacturers web page to get the updated list of eye pieces for your camera.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor results from an expensive product I purchased this product as I do a lot of photography in tropical areas. I had to use it a lot in Ghana recently where I have to say I was very disappointed. In short bouts of light rain there is no issue and it does the job. Unfortunately it does not do the job during downpours as I found to my cost. A heavy downpour that lasted 30 minutes soaked the cover through and I was shocked to feel how damp it had become on the inside of the cover. Clearly it would have been much worse without it but nevertheless I did have issues with my gear for sometime afterwards, nothing permanent I am glad to say. If you anticipate torrential rain then this is not the cover for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Rain Coat for the big Ma-mu I used this in Alaska, where the guide called my 400mm f2.8 the big Ma-mu. It works. It secures to the lens with an adjustable neoprene skirt that is very effective. Personally, I don't like the integral elastic located at the lens mount. I'm sure this is to keep the windows in body visible. Vertically oriented shots will still be dry, although, on a D3 you eill not be able to reach the vertical shutter release - As the body must be turned to the right to prevent water coming in through the hand hole.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cracked first time out this sport shield was being used on 2 different camera bodies (canon markiv and 5dmii) (yes, i did buy the respective eye pieces, at $ per), with 400 and 600 mm lengths. imagine being on a boat 500 miles from the north pole, temp a balmy 40f so not a factor in the cracking, and having the rear window poly crack the first time out in the rain. it never came out again - and boy did i need it. also, almost beside the point - make sure you have about an extra half hour to suit up your camera because it's that complex to put on. when i'm shooting in weather, wildlife arrives like weather - when it does - and being ready means having time and simplicity. this has neither. save your money and point yourself toward another product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent protection, simple design I recently purchased the Aqua Tech Sports Shield for use with my Canon 400mm f/2.8 lens. I used it for the first time last weekend shooting the Kentucky Oaks and Derby and the Aqua Tech withstood even the heaviest of downpours. I would definitely recommend this product for anyone looking for weather protection for their long glass. Also fits 600mm lenses. Based on this product, I will be purchasing the smaller zoom version for wide angle glass soon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Yes...and no... Yes, this is a great product to protect your valuable lens...but, no, it has it's flaws...don't get me wrong, I have four...for different lens-to-body configurations...and that's part of the problem...most of us professionals don't mind paying top dollar to protect our gear, matter of fact, we expect it!...BUT, couldn't a manufacturer make a product such as this that would accomodate a certain body type and ADAPT to a number of focal length lenses via waterproof zipper?...why not? get you to buy one for each adaptation1??...and here's my other problem, that has of yet only surfaced only on my SS 600 because I use it most...the neoprene eyepiece grommet has torn around the hole that fits over the eyepiece...months ago I emailed Aquatech for a solution or repair, and, after weeks of vacillating, the best they could offer, is BUY A NEW ONE!!...this comes on the heels of waiting several weeks for a workable repair solution, only to be advised finally that they would supply a neoprene patch, but I would have to have it sewn in myself...and then a follow-up email stating that they didn't think that would work, as the waterproof capabilities might be compromised...WHO'S RUNNING THIS OUTFIT?...I should have looked first to see, these products are also made in China, so, fat chance it would be easily repaired...still, better than most products for heavy, driving foul weather, just use extreme care when pulling the neoprene over the eyepiece!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would buy again and give as gift I am a wildlife photographer and bought this cover for my trip to Yellowstone. However when I received the cover I did not realize that I needed the eye piece also. So I got online and ordered it. Luckily it got here in time for my trip. THIS COVER WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THE EYE PIECE. IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED WITH THE COVER. I was so glad that I ordered this product. I did not miss the big bull moose because it was raining. I also was out there when the rain turned to snow. I was able to stay and photograph the Buffalo and Elk in the snow. There wasn't any leaking and is so easy to put on and take off. Allot of people asked me about the cover, I told them how much I liked it and suggested they purchase it. Thank you Aquatech for making a great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A useful tool, an excessive price For use as a professional sports photographer, the result is superb, the camera is dry and without moisture condensation. Quick and easy use, very comfortable and manageable, fully waterproof. Price too, uncomfortable to use controls from the outside
