Sport Shield rain covers are designed to protect professional cameras and lenses from adverse weather conditions such as wind, rain, salt, air and sand. They are manufactured using a versatile, high-performance and Multi-Layer Barrier Fabric System. This design seals the fabric with a series of coatings or "layers" that prevent driving rain, water, snow or dust from entering the fabric.
Note:
Requires an eyepiece to hold cover to camera and maintain waterproofing.
The Multi Layer Barrier Fabric System "sandwiches" the textile. The outside face is treated with a Teflon water-repellant finish preventing surface absorption of water, dirt, dust and oil. The inside surface is coated with three successive layers of a specially engineered formula which combine to create a tough, durable and permanent waterproof system.
Note:
Independent textile testing indicates an exceptionally high hydrostatic head averaging 10,000+mm (160kpa)

AquaTech SS-200 Reviews

works better in horizontal configuration

Designed to be used in horizontal mode. A bit more difficult to use on a monopod in vertical mode.I used this with a 70-200 lens. Had to open the zipper underneath the lens to operate the zoom. Really needs to be redesigned with a second arm hole to get better access to the zoom, switches, etc.On the plus side, it is much more rugged than the thin disposable vinyl junk out there.Don't forget to get the little eyepiece! (sold separately)

Must have for out doors

Construction is top notch. If you need to keep it dry this the kit you need, should work at the beach or in the desert against dust just as well. I used mine in very heavy rains and wind and can not see any other product that would tolerate the weather I exposed it too and stow so easily and compact. I'm not overly impressed with the eye piece and the window is too low for my 7d so I can not see the shutter speed and other top line info on the screen. Not a big deal as it's available info in the view finder, just say'n. This why I give it a four not a five, notwithstanding the aforementioned I can not image a better built product is out there for this purpose.

I shoot outdoor sports that don't stop for rain. This SS-200 allows me to stay and keep shooting where otherwise I would have to pack it in. It keeps my equipment dry and safe from the elements. Thanks

Must have for shooting on the water

This is the second SS-200 I have bought and in a year the improvement has been amazing. The main complaints I had about my first one (bought in Dec. 2009) were about the neoprene thing around the eye piece. The new SS-200 has a much more durable seeming collar. The only thing I would ask for now is a little finger pocket in the middle of the lens holder to allow for easy manipulation of zoom lenses that use a ring to zoom as opposed to trombone style zoom. For instance the difference between the canon lenses 70-200 2.8 and 100-400 f4-5.6.

This is a well put together piece of gear. I debated buying it or renting it, or just going on the cheap with plastic bags and tape. I am so happy that I decided to buy it after using it for a week in remote areas of Alaska. I will use it for future sports photography as well as in the wilds. I think it will be helpful in protection from dust as well. The build quality is very good and it was not too hard to access the camera controls. I only wish that the eye piece was more reasonably priced, but it is well made too and helps the cover fit specific camera models.

Just in case...

Great piece of kit for those days when you're not sure what the weather is going to do. Although its a little pricey, its great insurance for your equipment. I hate to stop shooting just because of a little rain, and now, I don't have to stop. This rain jacket is very well made and gives me the confidence I need to trust that my equipment will be well protected if rain does start to fall and I either can't, or don't want to stop shooting.

It works

Eye Piece sold separately

I read the other reviews I was not sure if the eye piece came with the cover. It is in fact sold separately. So I need to order it and then I will be able to test out the cover. Seems like a good product otherwise. I will use this cover to protect my camera from the wind and sand while working at the beach. It is a bit more pricy than the op/tech rain selves bags which I have to keep replacing. Hopefully it will last way longer.
