    Matthews B387486 reviews

    Reverse Stand - 7' is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 119.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best compact light stand on the market! I've been a long time user (5 years) of the Manfrotto Nano stand but came to these Matthews Reverse Stands from a wedding photographer colleague. The Matthews are taller, have a wider footprint, and hold 4x the weight than the Manfrotto Nanos. By the time you add a flash bracket and speedlite, these are just about the perfect height for reception and event rim lighting. I've also mounted my Elinchrom Rangers/ELB 400 head with a 39 deep octa for location run & gun portraits with an assistant. Very sturdy and easy to maneuver in tight city locations. Highly recommended and well worth the minor price increase over the Manfrotto Nano stands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Short & Wide It's super compact while folded up. However, its not so compact when opened. To be stable, the legs must be fully extended outwards which takes up alot of floor space. All in all, if you want portability, this is a good sturdy stand to get. But remember, when it is open, the legs take up alot of space. Oh, and the top part (usually the spigot) is fused into the lightstand itself (unlike other lightstand where its detachable. The good thing is that you'll never lose it. The bad is that its a tad more bulky and thus more difficult to attache an umbrella holder AND it does not have the screw/thread tip, so you can't attach more spigots to it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light, sturdy, large foot print I bought this stand to be used for sooting on location. The compact and large foot print is what attracted me to buy this product. When I tested it out, I was pleased with the sturdiness and the ability to fold up into a nice compact size to be put in a Pelican case or other lightstand case/bag. I mounted a Profoto head with a large Paul C. Buff foldable softbox and Profoto battery attached to the base of the stand with Manfrotto super clamp. Works like a charm and easy to move it around with one hand. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because of the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great portable stand! I had reviewed a number of the portable, reverse leg stands on BH website. I thought I would end up with the Manfrotto version, since the usually produce a quality product. I happened to be in Manhattan, so I stopped by the BH superstore to check out some of these stands in person. After seeing them, I felt this stand was much better quality for basically the same price. It may be slightly heavier than some of the other competing stands, but it is an easy trade off for the obvious quality in this product. Plus, almost all of the joints are nut and bolt, instead of rivets, making adjustments and repairs much easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE THIS STAND! I love this stand so much that I bought like 12 of them and replaced the cheaper Impact and Lowel stands I had in my location kit. This stand folds up small, but the hardware and build quality are top notch. The poles themselves are wider/thicker than any of the other travel stands I have, which translates into better stability when using heavier lights. I got them mainly because I like the ability to hyper extend the legs and make the total footprint only about 10 around, so I can fit these stands into tight places for architecture photography. They are very sturdy and versatile with the legs at normal positions. If I had a choice, I would use my studio C-stands for everything. But they are just way too heavy and cumbersome for location work when you're moving throughout an entire home shooting. So for that, I use these little guys!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best stand available for air travel I'd had a couple other reverse stands before and found them too flimsy, but this one is awesome! I can easily hold a 1K with chimera or a Diva/Mole Biax on it with no wobble at all. This stand is very flexible, it folds up almost as compact as any other one but still maintains a wide base and support. One other thing that is great is that they are similar to C-stands in that they can be placed very close together (see picture). Couple them with the Matthews mini-grip kit and there's no reason to take C-stands on location if you have limited space.Anytime you can snag a stand made by Matthews, do it...the fact that this one is so flexible, durable, and costs less than $ is terrific!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Travel Light Stand and holds 11 LBS. I just got this and looking at the other reviews some were down right wrong.. where it would not open easy.. First thing you do is remove the sticker on the side of the Stand that way it does not bunch up and keep from opening the stand.. I learned this the hard way once removed and the glue gone.. it operates smoothly. Paired with the Impact Dual Shoe Mount Ring and the Impact round Soft box and grid you got a great system.. I am ordering 2 more to do a Joel Grimes look.. that is portable..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would recommend this stand. I've looked for a stand for my PCB Einstein for a while now. I needed something with a wide base that was light so that I could use it for location portraits where I walk a bit with the client. This works well. Fully extended it's a bit shorter than I'd like and it's not as great if I was shooting a lot of tall men (over 6') but 3/4 extended and with the vagabond firmly attached at the low end of the pole it's definitely stable enough. I'm using it with a beauty dish so I'm not getting the sail issue with wind so I don't really need to use sandbags. I do have an assistant usually to manage the light and keep a handle on it in windy conditions. The build is really good and I like the nuts and screws vs rivets as I know I will be able to fix. The 5/8 post at the top is firmly installed unlike on my other cheaper stand where it's riveted in and wobbles about. It folds up really flat and I can put it in the tripod holder on my backpack when not in use if I decide to use it with speedlights. All in all, very happy with the purchase.
