Vista by Davis & Sanford TRAVLRV Overview

  • 1Description

This Vista Traveler Tripod supports up to 4.0 lb, measures 21.0" when folded, and includes a three-way, pan-and-tilt head. Its 3-section legs each feature flip locks for fast deployment, and can be positioned for a minimum height of 20.0" to a maximum height of 42.0", or 53.0" with its column fully raised. The column utilizes a geared movement for precise height adjustments and an integrated center brace allows the legs to be spread simultaneously as well as uniformly. The center brace helps to hold the legs in place, which include rubber feet to further enhance stability on a wide variety of surfaces.

Cameras, sport optics, or camcorders that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate, which is secured to the tripod's pan-and-tilt head using a quick release cam lock. The head can be rotated 360°, and tilted 90° backwards or forwards, as well as sideways for portrait orientation. Each of these three movements function independently of each other and can be locked into place.

A carry bag with a handle and strap is provided for storage and transport.

Traveler Tripod with 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok for light cameras This is definitely not a pro tripod as you can guess from the price. It is very lightweight and portable and is well matched to a small camera. I used it with a Fuji S700 and a Canon Elph and it worked very well. It will hold my new Canon Rebel SLR, but it isn't rock stable and it is not confidence inspiring. Even though my SLR setup is only 1.5 lbs, it seems like too much. This tripod says it is rated for 4lbs, but I would say realistically to do its job, it is more like 1 pound. So basically I would recommend it as a cheapo solution for compacts, but not for any SLR. Mine is the lightest SLR setup I know of an it is too much for this thing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Newer Cheaper hard to use with gloves on I have had the older version of this tripod that was made by Tiffen for years. I loved it because it was light weight for hiking and easy to flip the legs open with gloves on. I had to replace it, I thought I was getting the same tripod but no, the newer version going by the same name, but made by Vista is sorta the same but not where it is important to me. It is even lighter at the sacrifice of quality, the legs flips require taking off glove to open, all the knobs are smaller, harder to use with gloves. The stop at the bottom of the center post that is supposed to keep the leg brace secure comes off fairly easy. It is different enough they should have given it a different name for we would know it is different!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Low Cost Tripod I bought a few of these to loan to students in my high school photography class. At this price I can afford for them to lose or break a few, but they're good enough for general purpose work with smaller SLRs and lenses (I wouldn't use this tripod with a heavy camera or lens).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed I bought this product as a tripod for a slave strobe flash. I was really un-impressed with its quality. One time, at random and unprovoked, the middle piece just fell right of. Also, the head of the tripod is always falling off. The cause of all these problems is simply poor build quality. I mean you feel like your going to break it just using it. I am too worried about it to use when dealing with any clients, thats how bad it is. I suggest that you save your money and buy a decent tripod instead of this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap & Fragile I teach Digital Photography and have a limited budget. I ordered 10 of these for my classes to use. We have been using them for 3 weeks now and already have had to return one (it was broken out of the box). Three have already had parts break. Two had the turn knob break off completely. One, the center support broke. DO NOT recommend. Cheap. Lightweight and easy to use, but will break easily with any average use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Was Shocked At This Great Tripod! I used this tripod on a production set and it works great! The set up is easy, and I can definitely tell that I won't have to put WD40 on this product any time soon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Perfect for Yamaha YPAO setting This was strictly purchased for taking Yamaha YPAO (speaker equalization settings) readings. Since I'll probably only use it about 10 to 20 times in my life, I felt no need to go overboard. It does the job admirably and has a nice tote bag for storage. It is semi-fragile. Not commercial grade and I wouldn't recommend it for photography buffs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product for A Great Priceq I love this little thing!! I was so excited upon arrival! It's very lightweight, but capable of handling my tiny powershot Canon 320 hp (I wouldn't recommend this for cameras any bigger than that). I got it for use indoors, but I'm pretty sure it'll be fine to use outside as well depending on the foundation used. It holds up fine on hardwood and carpet. The legs are sturdy. There's a handle to steer the camera and it's angles are limitless with the camera screwed onto the dock! I love that feature! There's also a tiny leverage located on the dock, which is cool. It gets pretty tall (just about 5 ft) and as short as a foot.. nice range for me! The only thing I'd change is the wind up handle you see sticking out the side because once you wind it to where you want it, it doesn't lock. My camera is a touchscreen, so if I'm handling it too much while sitting on the dock, I'll end up pushing the tripod back down from where I wound it up. I hate that.
