    Giottos QU500B reviews

QU 500B Mini Tripod is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice basic Taken for what it is, a mini tripod, this is excellent. Stable and solid when dealing with flat surfaces. It can be used in more challenging settings but because it doesn't offer variable leg spay/angle or such, it isn't like setting up a regular full sized tripod. Of course it isn't. The fun is being creative when not presented with a tabletop flat surface to place it on. Wish it had a bit of height at times so you might also consider the version with the removable center column. I have it paired with a Bogen/Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head holding a 5D with 24-70/2.8.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally Fantastic This is the best TableTopTripod out there. Ive used them all and they are all great but this ones the best! I use it with a Leica M, an XPan, GF-1 and a Sony PCM-D50 Pro Field Recorder and sometimes use it for mics too. This is the best one because its really Super Solid. Its physically airy and light, and yet has full palm handling as opposed to finger control on other small gear like digital point+shoots. I have a nice small kit bag which Ill take on day trips and within that I have my actual camera bag with recorder camera+film and two of these TableTopTripods work as tripods and handles for the recorder or Mic. They are Light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great to have in your bag Perfectly paired with a Giottos MH5400 ballhead & a RRS B2-mAS plate, this mini tripod is light, small and surprisingly strong. As configured, the 3 piece assembly weighs in under 14 oz, 8.75 long & under 3 diameter - & has NO problem supporting a Canon 5Dm2 w/ 24-70 or w/ 70-200 (using lens plate mount). Not really a negative, but the tripods legs are either folded or fully extended (no in between or adjustment). What is not mentioned in the specs is that the tripod's footprint is 10.5 diameter (not 9 as answered under the Q&A tab) - or that the friction/tension on each individual leg can be adjusted/tightened if it loosens over use/time (small allen wrench included in package) - or that a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter is included - or that it is made in China. Overall a top quality mini tripod, & - when configured w/ a mini ballhead/plate - a VERY handy accessory to have in your bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small yet robust Very surprised at this little tripod and especially the load rating. This rig is used for the table top macro food shots I typically shoot. Handles the 5D-C-MkII with 24-70/2.8L, 100/2.8L macro with 12mm extension tube with ease. Also been used for some landscape while travelling with the 300/4 for ultra low level shots. It has also been used for 3-30 second long exposures. Only problem I had with this is that the little feet pads will come off over time. I wish they had micro screw in spiked feet or pads. This tripod rig is easily carried and has not let me down in the 5 years I have had it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pod I wanted a small tripod that could support my D5100 and would fit in my gadget bag until I needed it. This fits the bill superbly! It is extremely stable, and folds to a small diameter that fits easily in almost any random nook of the bag. I've taken some close-ups of flowers, and appreciate how low it sits to the ground. Paired with a Manfrotto 492 Microball head, it is an outstandingly sturdy and compact unit. The two together were a bit more than I wanted to spend for a mini tripod, but as with all tripods, quality really matters. I am very well pleased with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty handy This is a great tabletop tripod. It only has one height but how many do you really need for a tabletop tripod anyway? It holds my Nikon D300s with a 70-300mm lens which is more than I can say for other tabletop tripods. Most seem to be made for the point and shoot type cameras but this one can hold some weight but isn't heavy to carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy This tabletop tripod boasts a 11lb rating... When I first received it and put my 5D and 85 1.2 L2 on it, it feels pretty sturdy. It is so handy and sturdy I rarely go anywhere without it - super light in my backpack. Have fun

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid tripod Solid and sturdy. I purchased two for mounting flash units, for tabletop work. Very satisfied.
