    Giottos MM8660 reviews

MM 8660 Carbon Fiber Monopod is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just about perfect I got this to stabilize shots on hikes, etc. when I didn't want to lug the tripod. It's got a very beefy feel to it, but even with an attached ball-head, it's less than 2 pounds. I'm 5'9 and only extend the bottom section a little bit to get the viewer on my D80 eye-level. It's nice and short and should be easy to pack when I take my next airline trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Carrying a monopod for a month is easy I purchased this carbon fiber monopod and it was the best investment when you don't want to lug a tripod all day. I was in Germany for a month traveling everyday with the lightweight carbon monopod from Giottos and it was small enough to fit in my camera bag. Extremely lightweight, & strong that I have recommended it to my fellow photographers

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works, but it's no Gitzo. I bought this as it was carbon fiber, folds down very small, and was a reasonable price. Having had it for about a year I can say this. The top two twist locks have to be twisted all of the way out before the leg will move. you then have to screw them all of the way back in to lock them off. the feel of this is soft and it doesn't really feel locked. It doesn't feel very secure, and is certainly no G lock. Even slik locks off better. The other complaint I have is that the large mounting thread pushes back allowing a smaller thread to be used without having to change anything. This is a good idea, but the large thread spins freely after a bit of use. What is it attached to? The larger size thread should be more secure than the smaller, but i don't trust it. i use the smaller thread exclusively. I use the pod for my 300 2.8 and TC with a d700 and grip and it supports it, but the top plate wobbles! It is OK with a sinced flashgun though, so it has it's uses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks can be Deceiving I'm a somewhat hardcore Outdoor Photographer in NYC This Monopod is a delight to use for weight, strength For shooting Nature, Macro Photography hard to beat I like to use a 3 Way Panning Head with my Monpopods This type of Panning Head makes Vertical Shots easy The only time a Monopod may be a Negative would be When you are using a Long Lens where lateral moving Would hamper your steadiness

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STRONG & EASY TO USE My camera with lens is very heavy .. and my hand shakes .. this helps me get better pictures .. I can also use it as a walking stick instead of having to carry it when walking in the woods!
