    Counterweight - 6lbs is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a universal mic stand solution Beware, Atlas, AKG and K & M stand users, this counterweight is virtually incompatible with all my existing hardware. It's a well-made piece and a great idea, but it would seem that mic stand hardware isn't particularly standardized, and the description should be more specific regarding what types of booms this will actually work with. I'll find a use for it, but it's far from a universal counterweight solution. A better thought out locking system would have made it more useful.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good value, but not great The Good: Compact for it's weight, simple (simple is great IMO). The Bad. The U-shaped center is not big enough to fit my 8 foot Matthews stands! I can put the weight on a leg, but not on the center pole. I also wish it was a bright color like the Manfrotto weights. In this area, the much more expensive Manfrotto weights are superior, but then they cost a LOT more. I do have one suggestion: Before your first use, put some grease on the screw before you insert it into the weight. This will improve function by reducing friction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Didn't hold securely to a Hollywood arm until I did this... Great counterweight. Well made, small and almost symmetrical (doesn't try to rotate on a boom). My only complaint was that it would not clamp tightly onto a normal 5/8" Hollywood arm because the slot is either too large or the clamping screw is too short. Plus the surfaces didn't seem that "grippy" to prevent the weight from sliding laterally on the arm. Simple solution, I added some rubbery pads from Home Depot that fixed everything. It is now rock solid tight, and will not migrate down the arm at all. (See photo)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Compact, inexpensive, but ... Overall, not a bad idea, but it contains one flaw. Pros: Small size for a lot of weight, nice design, in that the weight is kept centered around the stand or boom arm, decently made Cons: Would be better if it were brightly painted, similar to the Manfroto units. Flaw: Simply put, the U-shaped slot is not large enough to fit the vertical tubes of my 8' Matthews stands! They do fit the legs, so it's OK, but it would be better if it fit the center tube, to provide more balance. It also will not fit my Manfroto boom arm. This limits it usefulness somewhat. One suggestion: Place a small amount of grease on the screw before inserting it into the weight. It makes it work better and should add to the useful life of the weight, as there will be less wear and tear on the threads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my needs I needed a lighter counterweight for my Celestron AVX mount and this one is almost perfect. The bore is a little larger than I need but it clamps down well enough. Saw the same product on Amazon for over twice the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy these again. I really had no need for the 11 lb Celestron weight and some one told me about these. They fit right on the weight bar and you do not have to remove the safety knob at the bottom to install and remove them. With the 3 lb and the 6 lb, I have all the weight I need right now, Plus they are smaller around, so you can move them all the way to the top and not worry about hitting anything on the mount. The lock knobs have a soft plastic or rubber tip, so it will not mark up the bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well As A Celestron AVX Telescope Mount Counterweight I purchased this item to serve as a smaller counterweight on my Celestron AVX telescope mount. I was having issues with the Celestron 11 pound counterweight hitting the motor housing when I was using a smaller scope or just a DSLR with no telescope. This counterweight fits the bill perfectly. It weighs less and has a more narrow profile than the Celestron 11 pound counterweight. It does not hit the motor housing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Weight, slim design This works well with my boom stand and counterbalances an Alien Bees 1600 with small soft box. I like the slim design, and the 6-pound weight is adequate for most small studio applications. I gave it 4/5 stars only because it didn't fit on my Manfrotto boom arm without having to compress the boom tube a little. But a little sweat went a long way, now the weight is never coming off the boom pole.
