    Nikon MB-D10 reviews

    MB-D10 Multi-Power Battery Grip is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 711.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battery Grip Does what it is suppossed to do. Firmly attaches to D700, same construction as D700, makes D700 look like it is more expensive than already is. Comes with trays for an EN-EL3e and 8 AA batteries. Shutter release isn't as nice as camera. You can disable the buttons. Shutter release also has lock to prevent accidental firings if not disabled. All I have to say to those who gripe about having to remove grip to change internal camera battery is give me a break. You can take the grip off in 5 seconds without anything more than an index finger with opposable thumb. Gave 5 stars under the pretense that nothing is perfect, but this is a fine attempt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes a substantial difference! I'm stoked to finally get the grip for my D700. I've been waiting for awhile now, and it compliments it very well. The weight and handling is considerably better and way more balanced. The extra weight on the bottom helps when having it over your shoulder or around your neck, and you don't get the feeling of the lens wanting to flip the camera over. I'm sure some people will know exactly what I'm talking about. As it is on my D700 right now, I have an EN-EL3e battery stuffed in the grip with the included cartridge for it. I may upgrade to the big, bad EN-EL4e battery and get the 8fps, but it's nothing urgent. It's simply a must have for D300 and D700 owners!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed My main complaint with the D200 batterypack was lack of focus point control. Nikon fixed this placing a joy-stick style control in a great location on this pack. I change the focus point often and it is nice not to have to turn the camera horizontal to do it. Also, this pack fits tighter than the D200. In the What was Nikon thinking department, having to remove the pack to change one of the batteries seems like a poor design. And having to remove a tray instead of just sliding the battery in and out seems like a bit of over engineering. At least it will drain the pack battery first, but this should have been thought out a little more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get a grip, get fast! This is a must have item for me. It balances out the D300 with longer lenses and the vertical shutter release and control are very handy. A big plus is having the ability to use inexpensive AA NIMH batteries for high speed performance at a much cheaper price than using D3 style battery. The one negative is that when the battery in the grip dies the camera doesn't automatically switch to the internal battery. Perhaps this is fixed in the new firmware upgrade but I haven't tested that yet. Oh, and this grip will work with the new D700 too so it feels like an even better investment. Rudi

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional outlook the mb d10 OK- first of all, If you have ever used the mb - d200 grip for the d200 or the mb80 grip for the d80, this grip is worlds apart in quality and ergonomics . I used them all and this is the first one that feels really good. The grip is slimmed down to feel like the vertical grip of a d2xs or d3 camera. The vertical button still feels the same , And yes there is no distinct stop for the halfway mark, but if you are a little intelligent ,you can figure out what halfway it pretty easy. It balances the d700 very well, the weight it does add is good weight. If you shoot vertical alot, get this grip, you will love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice grip for larger hands Dating back to the F5 and right through to the D series, I've loved the comfort and size of Nikons larger camera bodies. With this ad-on grip, it makes the D300 camera feel more substantial in your hands. The extra battery power makes for a great day of shooting. I use the AA insert with rechargeable batteries and the frame rate is very fast. Others have complained about the fact you have to remove the grip to change out the camera battery, but it isn't all that bad. I still wonder though, what they were thinking, or what technical issue prevented them from making it like the grip for the D100. Still, it's a great add on to your D300.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from accessory that you should have Nikon MB-D10 comes with: 1. MB-D10 Multi-Power Battery Grip 2. Battery Holder for AAs Batteries 3. Battery Holder for EN-EL3e (Make sure that you don't buy any extra of them) The camera will use the power source either from MB-D10 or from the camera (EN-EL3e) first - depends on your setting in the camera. Don't misunderstand that the camera will use two power sources at the same time. So: 1. EN-EL3e in the camera (or not) + EN-EL3e in the grip = 6 fps. 2. EN-EL3e in the camera (or not) + 8 AAs Baterries in the grip = 8 fps 3. EN-EL3e in the camera (or not) + EN-EL4a in the grip = 8 fps*. *You have to buy EN-EL4a Battery separately plus the Charger for it plus the Battery Holder for it. MB-D10 works well, fits hand, looks pro, and is more balance with the bigger lenses. The shutter is super sensitive, watch out for that. In genaral, it is worth to have. The price is a little high, but you will love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Balancing Act! I use this on my D300 to get more shooting time. I didn't think having the vertical grip would be as important to me as the battery capacity, but now I never take it off. If gives the camera a certain amount of heft and balance that it lacked before. I find I never take it off except to charge the camera battery. It attaches and detaches quickly, fits securely and feels quite natural when attached. I find the extra buttons nicely placed and have to problem using them. I like that they can be turned off and on by a switch so that they aren't depressed accidentally. Overall a great addition to a great camera.
