Nikon HK-35 overview

Improve visibility and reduce flare with the dedicated Nikon HK-35 Lens Hood for the AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4G ED VR. It is designed to block stray light from entering the lens, without appearing in your frame and causing vignetting. Additionally, since it protrudes beyond the front element, the hood protects the glass against light impact. It is included with the lens and offered here as a spare or replacement part.

    Nikon HK-35 reviews

HK-35 Lens Hood for AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4G ED VR is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Watch out you don't lose it in the ocean The hood does what it's meant to do - to protect the lens from the elements while shooting, and to reduce the amount of glare under bright sun. The 600mm lens came with the lens hood. HOWEVER, for the price you pay for this lens, they give you a flimsy design for securing the hood to the lens with these knobs that come loose on their own. You need to tighten them frequently. Otherwise you risk losing the hood like I did, down the cliff into the Atlantic Ocean! That's the reason why I needed to order a replacement hood now. A bayonet mount like that on the Zeiss ZF.2 lens hood would have been much more secure. The other criticism is that it took Nikon almost a year to ship it to B&H from the time I placed the order. Even taking into consideration the earthquake/tsunami in Japan and the flood in Thailand, this seems a bit excessive.
