This Light & Motion Bluefin electronic underwater housing kit is for the Sony HDR-HC9, HDR-HC7 and HDR-HC5 high-definition camcorders. The housing is constructed from industrial-grade aluminum, machined and anodized with a depth rating of 330'. All primary camera controls are accessed by infrared through the housing body. This prevents the need for mechanical controls to penetrate the housing, greatly decreasing the chance of a flood.
The housing has advanced features laid out in a compact, easy-to-use design. It allows the user to access one-touch manual white balance, aperture/ shutter speed control, tele-macro mode and smooth slow motion. The Smart Grip Handles provide access to VTR playback for instant footage review. Smart Grips are switchable left to right, giving you redundant control. This gives you the option of shooting right- or left-handed. Also included is an underwater microphone and flip-down color correction filter that provides easy transitions between ambient and artificial light.
The Bluefin HC7 housing kit comes with two optics that allow you to capture everything in the underwater world. The super-wide-angle lens has a 80° angle of view. This allows you to get closer to your subject. Less water between you and your subject will produce more contrast and better color, thereby increasing the quality of your footage. A wide-angle lens is the only way to go to film large fish, shipwrecks, and underwater scenes that include divers. The zoom macro port has a 65° viewing angle while still providing macro ability for close-up shots. This is the best choice to capture shrimps, nudibranchs and other small sea creatures.
Also included in the kit is a monitor with a large 2.5" color active matrix LCD display. This makes framing, focus and other settings easy to see even in bright sunlight. Constructed with "bulletproof" aluminum material and stainless steel positive locking safety latches. Just attach the mount bracket, plug in the connections between the monitor and camera and get ready to shoot. The monitor is powered by the integrated NiMh battery pack that gives you 6 hours to capture your underwater video.
