The Tokina 100mm f/2.8 - AT-X M100 PRO D is a macro lens capable of life-sized (1:1) reproduction at 11.8" (30 cm).

The lens' multi-coating has been re-engineered to match the highly reflective silicon based CCD and CMOS sensors in today's digital SLR cameras. This lens gives the best of both worlds because optics still give full coverage and excellent sharpness on 35mm film. A macro lens that can handle both the digital and film worlds with ease. The AF system is not supported by D40, D60, D3000-series, and D5000-series cameras. The lens must be used in fully manual mode when used with the D3400.

Optimized for use with digital cameras
Focus limit switch that can lock the focus out of the closest focus making it focus faster when used as a moderate telephoto lens that is excellent for portraits as well
One Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism for fast and easy switching between manual and Auto focus from any position
55mm non-rotating filter thread for use with macro ring flashes and special effects filters

    100mm f/2.8 AT-X M100 AF Pro D Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF-D is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 383.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low pitch howl with manual focus ring. The problem with the manual focus ring emitting a low pitch howl when using the ring was brought to my attention before I purchased the lense. When looking at reviews on Youtube, the problem was noted at FixYourCamera.org. The lens was torn down to find the cause. The problem was because of lack of sufficent grease. After the lens was properly greased it worked fine. I ordered the lens and sure enough my first copy had the problem. The lens has so many positive reviews I went ahead and exchanged it for a second new copy. The second copy also had the problem but worse. I really wanted to like this lens! I returned it to B&H With no problems! Through the whole process B&H was great. They covered all shipping costs from start to finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super The first non-Nikkor I've bought since the early 1970s. Bought this lens on the basis of several reviews--every one talked about the great sharpness, color rendition, and build. All true. Well worth it. Those other reviews go into great detail about many of the specifics. I want to add that the color is remarkable and that the lens focuses in the same direction as Nikkors, so that manual focusing is easy and natural. Back in "the day," off-brand lenses focused backward and were of obviously inferior build and image quality. This lens has a little different feel than Nikkors, but it's quality is unmistakable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I couldn't be happier I couldn't be happier with my decision to buy this lens. As a short telephoto it let's me stay just back far enough from the action to not interfere and get some good shots. Auto focus is fast and accurate. Great bokeh and good length to use as a portrait lens. It is a very good macro lens. The manual focus on this lens just feels right. It is easy to take it in and out of auto focus mode just by moving the focus ring so you don't have to hunt for a little switch when you are changing modes. I agree with other reviewers that certainly for the price it is a fantastic value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Value! I have a Nikon D750 and was debating between this lens and a few other options that were at least double the price. I do not see how those lenses could make any improvements over the Tokina 100mm f2.8. This lens is wonderful! This lens even works well for non-macro photography. Some people have commented on the focus speed/sound, but for me I found that it focused very speedily and I didnt notice any sound at all (outdoors). I found that the focal length (and corresponding working distance) were more than adequate. The lens is decently light and compact. Overall extremely happy and would recommend this over any of the nikon or sigma macros. Save your money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Macro Lens! The Tokina engineers really did a great job on this lens. I use it on my D200 and now a D300. This lens performed great at F22 where some others in the Nikon line, seem to degrade. I am not a technical whiz at why, but know that this lens is fantastic at the F16, f22 stops where you need that additional depth of field on macro work. I like the push pull collar for manual to auto focus selection. It is very handy and a pleasure to work with. The coatings work as advertised.. helping to work better on the reflective digital sensors. The colors come out very true and highly saturated. I highly recommend this lens and at the price it is a real bargain. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast focus and sharp I was surprised with the results of this affordable 100mm macro. Images came out very sharp at 1:1 macro. It is light and easy to operate, despite de fact that took me a while to find out how to turn on the auto-focus by pushing the focus ring outward. Anyway, for fast macro I use in manual focus, what it seems much easier for me. The auto focus in normal circumstances is fast and reliable. However, the construction seems not very sturdy, so I am not trying this lens in tough environment. Bottom line, a great cost/benefit acquisition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy again, or possibly the Sigma Closeup and general shooting. Very sharp. Some of the manual stuff is actually an advantage. You may want to consider if the Sigma which is quieter, and faster auto-focusing is worth the extra money for you. In retrospect I should have grabbed the Sigma when it was on sale. But do not get me wrong, this is a sweet sharp lens that does what it claims to do. Many closeup photographers focus manually, and if this is you, than this is your lens. I have several Tokina's and am happy with all of them. They are always great value. However Sigma, and even Tameron is starting to challenge them in the third party lens area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tripod highly recommended I spent months reading through several reviews and trying to decide over the Tokina and other brands that offer lenses in this focal length range. Considering a cost/benefit relationship I decided to purchase the 100mm Tokina and I do not regret my decision. Very sharp lens, but be aware that you need a tripod to get a good image, and I'm not talking about macro. Or maybe I've gotten to a point where my hands are already too shaky... ;) Without VR this lens just should not be used without a tripod or monopod. I own a Nikon D100 and autofocus does not work with this particular model, but I knew about it. Anyway, IQ is great, colors are great and I love the lens. BTW, I also own a 11-16 mm Tokina and the quality of both lenses is excellent. Happy camper here.
