The Tokina 100mm f/2.8 - AT-X M100 PRO D is a macro lens capable of life-sized (1:1) reproduction at 11.8" (30 cm).

The lens' multi-coating has been re-engineered to match the highly reflective silicon based CCD and CMOS sensors in today's digital SLR cameras. This lens gives the best of both worlds because optics still give full coverage and excellent sharpness on 35mm film. A macro lens that can handle both the digital and film worlds with ease. The AF system is not supported by D40 and D60 cameras.

Optimized for use with digital cameras
Focus limit switch that can lock the focus out of the closest focus making it focus faster when used as a moderate telephoto lens that is excellent for portraits as well
One Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism for fast and easy switching between manual and Auto focus from any position
55mm non-rotating filter thread for use with macro ring flashes and special effects filters

    100mm f/2.8 AT-X M100 AF Pro D Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF-D is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 355.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I couldn't be happier I couldn't be happier with my decision to buy this lens. As a short telephoto it let's me stay just back far enough from the action to not interfere and get some good shots. Auto focus is fast and accurate. Great bokeh and good length to use as a portrait lens. It is a very good macro lens. The manual focus on this lens just feels right. It is easy to take it in and out of auto focus mode just by moving the focus ring so you don't have to hunt for a little switch when you are changing modes. I agree with other reviewers that certainly for the price it is a fantastic value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Value! I have a Nikon D750 and was debating between this lens and a few other options that were at least double the price. I do not see how those lenses could make any improvements over the Tokina 100mm f2.8. This lens is wonderful! This lens even works well for non-macro photography. Some people have commented on the focus speed/sound, but for me I found that it focused very speedily and I didnt notice any sound at all (outdoors). I found that the focal length (and corresponding working distance) were more than adequate. The lens is decently light and compact. Overall extremely happy and would recommend this over any of the nikon or sigma macros. Save your money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Macro Lens! The Tokina engineers really did a great job on this lens. I use it on my D200 and now a D300. This lens performed great at F22 where some others in the Nikon line, seem to degrade. I am not a technical whiz at why, but know that this lens is fantastic at the F16, f22 stops where you need that additional depth of field on macro work. I like the push pull collar for manual to auto focus selection. It is very handy and a pleasure to work with. The coatings work as advertised.. helping to work better on the reflective digital sensors. The colors come out very true and highly saturated. I highly recommend this lens and at the price it is a real bargain. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast focus and sharp I was surprised with the results of this affordable 100mm macro. Images came out very sharp at 1:1 macro. It is light and easy to operate, despite de fact that took me a while to find out how to turn on the auto-focus by pushing the focus ring outward. Anyway, for fast macro I use in manual focus, what it seems much easier for me. The auto focus in normal circumstances is fast and reliable. However, the construction seems not very sturdy, so I am not trying this lens in tough environment. Bottom line, a great cost/benefit acquisition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy again, or possibly the Sigma Closeup and general shooting. Very sharp. Some of the manual stuff is actually an advantage. You may want to consider if the Sigma which is quieter, and faster auto-focusing is worth the extra money for you. In retrospect I should have grabbed the Sigma when it was on sale. But do not get me wrong, this is a sweet sharp lens that does what it claims to do. Many closeup photographers focus manually, and if this is you, than this is your lens. I have several Tokina's and am happy with all of them. They are always great value. However Sigma, and even Tameron is starting to challenge them in the third party lens area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tripod highly recommended I spent months reading through several reviews and trying to decide over the Tokina and other brands that offer lenses in this focal length range. Considering a cost/benefit relationship I decided to purchase the 100mm Tokina and I do not regret my decision. Very sharp lens, but be aware that you need a tripod to get a good image, and I'm not talking about macro. Or maybe I've gotten to a point where my hands are already too shaky... ;) Without VR this lens just should not be used without a tripod or monopod. I own a Nikon D100 and autofocus does not work with this particular model, but I knew about it. Anyway, IQ is great, colors are great and I love the lens. BTW, I also own a 11-16 mm Tokina and the quality of both lenses is excellent. Happy camper here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp AND Fast I shoot my Tokina 100mm f/2.8 on a D200, hand holding it for the freedom of composition and in macro situations, allowing fast repositioning without having to move a set-up tripod. The lens is sharp; whether for macro shots or as a medium tele. The lens is fast; the f/2.8 is appreciated, especially when used for candid portraits. The excellent sharpness continues into the smaller apertures, aiding composition in macro mode where you might want more DOF.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good! After seeing a number of online reviews extoling the virtues of the Tokina 100mm f/2.8, I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. Unfortunately, a large number of others had apparently seen the same reviews, so the waiting game began. After about 5 weeks, I finally had mine, and I put it to work right away. The build quality and optics are top notch. I was able to get razor sharp images for both portraiture and macro. I haven't had it long enough to have put it through all of its paces, but I'm well pleased with the performance I have gotten so far.
