    LC-44EX Rifa-Lite EX44 Softbox Light (120-230 VAC / 12 VDC) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for indoor interviews! This is really simple and fast to setup on a light stand. I use it as a key light on the manfrotto 001b stand and the 235W GLF bulb. Recently I've also bought the 40 degree egg crate for this, and that's HIGHLY recommended since the egg crate really reduces the spill light behind and beside the interview person. You want the light on the person, NOT on the walls behind him/her. Place a Lowel pro-light behind the person as a hair/shoulder light and the person really pops out of the background!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, versatile soft light. I am an ENG photographer, and I love the way this light works during a TV interview with a woman. Soft, portable, easy to tote. I like the interchangeable fixture sockets, too. I use it with a 250W CGA, but am thinking about using a 125 FSA for nighttime live shots outdoors. Mostly, I use this indoors for interviews. Great design, light weight. Does what it should. I use an OMNI or VIP light, diffused, as a key, and this as a fill. If I have room or the time, a vip with a snoot or barned off for a back light, and I am done. Of course, in ENG work, usually I only have the time for one light, in which case I use a VIP as a high front key, softened. I really like this light when I have the time to set up some nice lighting. Without the egg crate, ($150 +), you can't control it, but no need to, most of the time. I am not using it in a studio. For TV News, we take what we can get in any given situation!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from you get what you pay for Professional producer for non-profit films. I've bought cheaper soft kits because of budget, but you truly get what you pay for. This kit has been a great addition to my lighting tool kit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for Basic Interviews I'm not the best lighting guy by any stretch. I had to set up a video interview in a very small, cramped hotel room. Next to the window (indirect sunlight), I used this light as a primary source with a blue gel, backlit the corner with a table lamp, and put a reflector disk on the bed for fill. Worked out great, and my subjects were happy with how they looked. Their only comment is that it runs hot being underneath it, but it is tungsten. Used it again the next day on location for another interview (at her place of work in the middle of her day). The light is fast to set-up and break down. It's portable and durable. I use a Manfrotti 6-foot Nano Stand. I put it all in my bag with my clothes for a three-day trip and checked it in at the airport. BTW, a guy at B&H helped me put this setup together. Thanks, guys. The bottom line is, I want another Rifa.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well This arrived just in time as it turned out, because the Rifa I had had for years was dead when I took it out of its case. But this one works well, is simple to set up, and compact in the case. The overall design is a little flawed imo, since it's fairly delicate in a Lowell kit with a bunch of other sturdier pieces. But having the softbox in a portable kit is such a useful addition, its worth taking the extra care.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Portable Shooting Kit I now have six of these Rifa-Lite EX44s which I use in studio and on-site video shoots in an operation that produces daily video news reports. The light weight, compact size, near-instant setup time and durability of these units make them particularly good for our portable shooting kit. Their extremely low heat output and diffused light make them very effective for up-close interviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Second In The Model Lineup This is the second model in this series I have purchased. I like the versatility and quality of these units. They offer very good value for the cost. Fast and easy set up and take down. All all around great value product. I intend to purchase the largest model in the series the next time B&H has it on sale!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An Excellent Soft Key Just finished my first shoot with the Rifa LC-44 using a 250w bulb. The setup was simple and quick and the softbox cast a super smooth almost omni type of light. I was shooting interviews for a DOC and also had a couple DV Prolights. These are great kits and I will be getting a couple more.
